The speaker asserts that as long as a goal is worthy, it is justifiable to attain it by virtue of any means. While I agree insofar as a worthy goal should be achieved with our utmost efforts, however, I do not think it is justifiable to attain a goal when resorting to unrighteous means, which probably means to work harm to our society and go against the general morality.

To begin with, when concerned with the actual definition of “worthy”, different people have different ideas according to their respective personal interests, religious beliefs and personal value system. It is wildly seen that when one goal is absolutely worthy for certain people while the goal will bring distress, depression and even long-term jeopardy to some other people. Consider, for example, the familiar issue of a factory’s emitting toxic effluents into the river. While for the factory its goal is to reduce costs and maximum profits, which is quite worthy from the factory standpoint, the workers choose the means of undue emit to nearby river. However, what about the consequences of such behavior? The deed finally results in the over pollution of the naturally clear rivers, then arouses the destroying of our favorable environment; ultimately brings impact on our humans. Nearby people can easily be influenced by the polluted river. And even worse condition involves the emergence of serious diseases, perhaps death. In such case, the worthy of the factory’s goal is based on the distress of so many inculpable people. Hence, the definition of “worthy” with such means cannot be extended, and contrarily, should be modified and abandoned completely. Obviously, there are still other appropriate methods to achieve these goals, not bring harm to either individuals or society, and in this sense, the worthy of the goal is then real “worthy”.  

In addition, there are plenty of corresponded issues that happened around our life, which are disrupting society’s order and are putting our current society into chaos. Such kind of means should be regarded as unjustifiable. The aptly examples lie in business, education, and medicine areas. Today’s fierce competition between enterprises easily leads to unhealthy market behaviors. The vicious competition is such vivid evidence, which means damaging opponents to improve self’s market occupation. More often than not, although there may occur some ephemeral better off, the inappropriate competing method can never permanently survive. Further, consider the education system for example. To gain good grades, more and more students are prone to cheat in examinations. Are their means to get their worthy goal “good grades” justifiable? Their means mean an inequity for other students, and show signs of challenging current educational principle. Accordingly, their means are nor justifiable. Only through hard working and frequent thinking can really get the so-called worthy goal “good grades”. Again, in medical areas, some doctors purchase their utmost interests by all kinds of means, irrespective of the patients’ real demand. For instance, some doctors always prescribe far more amount of medicine than factual amount to patients in the hope of gaining more extra profits from patients, in the meanwhile patients have to suffer from even worse illness. Are these doctors’ behaviors justifiable while they realize their own “worthy” goal of making money? Obviously, they are not.

Therefore, when we are on the way to attain the worthy goal, we should keep in mind its consequences and take appropriate and reasonable means, never attempt to destroy our society and wide common populace. We can see the quick process of our society. It is the successive achievements of all kinds of worthy goals, whether in natural scientific, arts, medical, business fields and the like, that propel the development and progress of our society. We are entirely likely to attain worthy goals with our utmost efforts, with the promise of not bringing detriment

我觉得这篇每个人的价值体系不同讨论的非常详细，论证的非常清楚，但是有个缺点就是相对于后面两段而言显得过于详细了，我觉得后面才应该是重点
