Will education be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student? My response is that individual needs and interests of each student would be attributable to the effectiveness of education in deed, but however, would not be the only aspect that ascribe. Some deer examples come from the current education system in China and some famous historical characters.
Firstly, considering the different conditions we are in, we may have distinct ability of absorbing knowledge, and thus, coming with the gap of effectiveness. For example, nowadays in China, as we can see that resulting from the large population and finance regulation, the education system is rigid with its laggard development. Comparing with the senior high school in the states, even if a Chinese senior student is obsessed in what the instructor had taught in the class, he cannot further the study into a creative level for we donnot have that much time and resource. And in this way, education would not be so truly effective. Thus interest is not the only thing that matters to the effectiveness. On the contrary, the newly winner of fields prize Terence Tao is really effective in either study or research, he meets his individual need and interest however.
Like Terence Tao, one can look at another legendary mathematician in the history who left the following mathematicians a great treasure, Fermat. He was an legal consul at that time and showed great interest and passion in math, people can hardly believe that a legal consul could make incredible attribution in math ,afterward, giving him high honors. With individual need and interest in learning ,in my opinion, one would be more likely to step to such a high level and the inevitable success of Fermat as a typical fact has confirmed it obviously.
Nevertheless, as I have said that, individual needs and interests of each student would never be the only way to get our education effective. Aside from the individual needs and interests, one may also be very effective in learning just under the specific atmosphere or pressure which provides a evident effect aiming at some certain person. Let us retrospect to the era of confucius whose ideology is widely advocated nowadays. When he was alive, he had thousands of disciples for he was a great ideologist in the late days. Among the large number of his disciples , most of them then came to their kingdom. However, confucius asserted to teach each of the disciples in accordance with aptitude. Maybe one's interest totally differed from his adeptness, and it would more likely to achieve oneself following his adeptness. The similar with students at present day. Under the education system of China most of the students donnot like the subjects they are studying now, and the stuff would have no use henceforth in faith. But just for the restriction of examination or the pressure of competition, they are driven to a high state and comes with true effectiveness. Accordingly, many other factors except need and interest can drive one to effective learning as well.
In sum, given by the reasons above, in some cases education will be truly effective when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student but in the overwhelming situations it is affected by any other factors.
1. 开头:否定观点
2. 中国学习体制:针对,没效率。(附带:陶哲轩)
3.费马:针对,有效率
4.孔子,现在有些教育:不针对,有效
