【题目】Money spent on research is almost always a good investment, even when the results of that research are controversial.
【翻译】花费在研究上的金钱总是很好的投资，即使研究结果是有争议。
【提纲】Position: agree, but it should sometimes be assisted by the control of government.
1、科研的好处：Research is the exploration of the unknown for true answers to our questions, and for lasting solutions to our enduring problems. And it is also the chief means by which we humans attempt to satisfy our insatiable appetite for knowledge, and our craving to understand ourselves and the world around us. 科技好处的例子很多了；
2、在投资前不好说结果是否有争议It is hard to tell whether its result is controversial before investing money on the research. 原子弹、核武器，爱因斯坦建议研究，克隆
3、不可否认，有些研究的结果是有害的，甚至可以毁灭人类。比如说发明的原子弹、核武器等，但是他们也有好的用途：例如发电。其坏的地方可以由政府控制，克隆技术
Many researches may be controversial and the results of them may bring to people some harm, after all they are of greater benefit in the short or long term.
4、由此可见，对科研的投资总的来说是有益的，在遇到有争议的结果或产生不好影响的时候，可以由政府加以控制，只利用其有利的部分

2) Research of radioactivity: the starting point for cancer treatment, for the dating techniques used on ancient objects, rocks and the universe, and for molecular biology and modem genetics.

Issue32
【题目】"A school or college should pay its teachers at the same rate in all  disciplines, regardless of differences in salaries for related fields in the world outside of school. For example, entry-level teachers in mathematics and in the arts should receive the same pay, even if outside of school, math specialists earn a much higher salary on average than do specialists in the arts."
【翻译】学校或者大学应该付给所有学科老师相同的工资，而不必理会校内外教师的薪水差异。例如，入门级的数学老师和艺术老师应该拿到相同的薪水，即使在校外，数学专家比艺术专家的平均薪水高出很多
【提纲】反对：
1、符合价值规律，抢手，热门的就要叫价高一些，应在一定程度上与校外一致；
2、报酬应该按贡献与付出、学生的喜爱程度、学校的排名来定，而非仅仅是专业；
3、大锅饭的坏处，打击积极性，好的教员跳槽，降低学校质量；

【题目】"Creating an appealing image has become more important in contemporary society than is the reality or truth behind that image."
【翻译】在当今社会，引人的表面现象比现象背后的本质重要得多
【提纲】appealing image的确在当今变得很重要，但不会超过本质
1、在商业领域，媒体广告带来的appealing image的重要作用
2、在政治领域，国家的形象问题；
3、在社会生活领域，appealing image起到良好的榜样作用，有利于社会风尚的形成；如个人、城市环境宣传等等；
4、本质还是最重要，只有形象本质差得坏处：如豆腐渣工程，政治领导人丑闻等等；
5、总结，在保证本质的前提下形象很重要

【题目】"Instead of requiring students to take courses in a variety of disciplines, that is, courses ranging from the arts and the humanities to the physical and biological sciences colleges and universities should allow students to enroll only in those courses that will help prepare them for jobs in their chosen fields. Such concentration is necessary in today's increasingly work-oriented society."
【翻译】学校与其让学生们学习种类繁多的课程------艺术、人类学到物理、生物科学，还不如只让学生们学习针对以后工作而开设的有针对性的课程。这样的集中方式顺应了目前工作为主的社会
【提纲】
1、从教育的目的来说，学习多种课程是有益的；对社会，培养全面的人才；对个人；
Studying various disciplines keeps one balanced in the society. Those who concentrate in only job related courses will inevitable find themselves limited in everyday life.
2、事实上，很少有人能够实现确定一个方向以后一直学习或者从事工作，其兴趣可能改变，机遇不同也可能会从事专业领域以外的工作；
3、专注专业的学习也是必须的，可以掌握特定的技能，有利于进行深入研究，例如现在我们大学都选专业，深入学习；
4、总结，应当在强制全面的基础上，留有充足的可选择空间让学生选择专业深入学习

【题目】"No matter what the situation, it is more harmful to compromise one's beliefs than to adhere to them."
【翻译】不管在什么样的情况下，妥协总是没有坚持好
【提纲】
1、信念和理想是我们成功的灯塔
2、回顾历史，在大多数情况下，坚持信念和目标的人容易走向成功；如中国人民8年抗战就是坚持；这么多年来人们对于航天事业的研究和一项项的突破就是坚持；我们每次考试也是坚持哈哈；布鲁诺的坚持；伽利略的坚持；诺贝尔，居里夫人的坚持；贝多芬眼盲仍然作曲，海伦凯勒的成功；
3、不能盲目的坚持，如果我们坚持的东西是错误的话，否则必将走向失败；如：希特勒，小泉坚持参拜靖国神社；
4、有时，为了成功我们也需要暂时的妥协；如卧薪尝胆的故事，就是在力量弱的时候妥协争取生存和发展的机会，以期待日后的崛起；
5、总结
