VTOPIC: ISSUE154 - "Both parents and communities must be involved in the local schools. Education is too important to leave solely to a group of professional educators."
Syllabus:
1. It is not enough to leave education only to professional educators.
2. Parents have lots of advantages in the education of youths.
3. Communities could play various positive roles in the development of youths.
What's the purpose of education? In my opinion, the chief purpose of education is to cultivate a youth into an independent individual--both materially and mentally. I totally agree with the statement that it is not enough to leave education solely to a group of professional educators, both parents and communities should involve in the local schools as well.
It is true that professional educators can provide students professional knowledge and skills -- which is indispensable for an individual to survive in a society. However, students cannot learn knowledge according to their own characteristics from professional educators, since the time and energy limits of the educators. Parents could take this responsibility. What is more, because students could not stay with professional educators all the time, the youth will get lots of bad habits during their free time if left unregulated. Only by the involvement of parents and communities could the youth develop healthy and soundly.
Parents have lots of advantages in the educating of youth in that it is always parents that know their children best. Parents could find out their children's gift in certain field and aid them to enhance it. Parents could also feel little discontent of their children towards certain affairs and disabuse it timely. Only in this way could the children develop what they most suitable and grow up both physically and mentally.
Communities could play various positive roles in the education of youth. First of all, communities could fund the education institutes to enable more youths the opportunity of accepting professional education and provide them better studying environment. Secondly, Communities could impact a lot in the ethics of the youth. It is hard to imagine a child growing up in a community filled with crimes could develop into a policeman; it is also hard to think of a youth surrounded with benefactors will keep indifferent when coming across a person in difficulty. Finally, a community could also teach the youth the history of that community thus hands some unique tradition down generation by generation.
In sum, the youth will be the elites of society in the future and will be the main contributors of social assets; thus, all the contributors now, including professional educators, parents, and communities should take the account of educating them, since only in this way, could the society function properly day by day.
