Music is found almost in every aspect of our lives. People listen to music at different times and for different reasons. Music is an important part of social and individual lives note only because it serves as good relaxation for people to release their pressures, but also because music provides great source of inspiration and way to express people’s religious and moral sentiments.

For most people, they listen to music to release themselves from pressures and tiredness that come from the rapid pace of modern society. Unlike sleeping making all parts of one’s body run at a low level at the same time for at least a couple of hours, listening to music is capable of bringing back our energy while keeping us awake, for it stimulates different part of our brains from the working section when we are staring at computer screen or thinking over some problems. This active recreation, as scientists call it, is nuch more efficient in helping us recover from physical and mental exhaustion within a shorter time before we are ready for working on.

Additionally, music serves as source of inspiration for some people, especially artists. It is straightforward to say that musicians share ideas when listening to other’s work. Furthermore, brilliant thoughts come from music for other forms of art, painting and architecture, for instance. I have seen painters listening to soft music while working on painting landscapes, and classical symphony when painting roaring sea. Known as flowing architectures, music is also helpful to architects.

Last but not least, music is of great importance in religious and moral lives of people. In the baroque times hundreds years ago, the most significant function of music is to be played in churches and at ceremonies, expressing people’s respect to God and Kings. Even today, when this sort of music is not so popular any more, people still sing anthems when praying in churches. And when they are getting married, people play wedding music, a sign of love between the couple, as well as impetrating for God’s bless.

In conclusion, listening to music is both an active way for recreation for ordinary people and source of inspiration for artists. In addition, it is indispensable for us to express our religious beliefs and feelings. Music is playing an important rile in our society.
