Living in a world full of competition and the gap between rich and poor, the developing and the developed, people start to argue, why do we still spend so much money tapping the outer space while so many people are suffering from the starvation and why are we making such a high budget for academic research while so many children could not even afford to receive education? This is a controversial issue we can not stop thinking about, however, the research which help people to know the world and solve the problems should not be ceased for some contemporary problems.

Research is the process through which people explore the nature and the world that is totally unknown to us before. It is just like a Pandora Box, before you open it, you always hold a feeling of curiosity and expectation in that one can not foresee what is really in it, whether it is the plagues and sorrows that keep people suffering or the blessing from God, giving people hope and happiness, no one knows. However, if you do not open it, the chance to develop will pass by and people will forever live mediocrely in a stagnant world. Before Wangyuan started to do the research on Goldbach conjecture, he did not think about whether he could solve it or he would spend the rest of his life on the research in vain, however, he did illustrate 3+4 and 2+3, which lay down the foundation for Chen Jingrun to develop it into 1+2. High risk is always a good company of success in research work. People may land on the moon and step their feet on it or perish in the vast universe due to some defects in a extreme expensive spaceman ship. Nevertheless, you could not abandon every research because of the inevitable risk in it.

Fortunately, people never boggled in front of these risks in the research, thus push the whole society to develop forward. The reformation and development in people’s daily life are always brought about by those worthy study and research. The research on the power gives people electric to lighten their homes and enable them to read and write in the night; the study of society provide women with equal rights not only in family but also in the outside world which give them as many job opportunities as man and give them a self-sufficient chance to be independent. Even the most abstruse research such as Einstein’s general and special theory of relativity, which was considered to be misguided and thus controversial at a time, give us a brand new view to perceive the world. The research in every field that acquainted us with more knowledge with the world we live in is always a good try to understand the contemporary world as to provide the next generation more sense of security.

However, it is not a detrimental thing to raise the question about the enormous investment we put into research work since it sets us to contempt about the road we have passed. The research work on clone and hemopoietic stem cell raise the question of humanity for us. Why do we try to clone the innocent animals and hold the intention to clone the people? In the hope to prolong our life expectance and ruthlessly cut off the fresh organs just grow up in the clone people’s body? We have seen too many this kind of movies showing the pathetic world the clone people live in, they are not people but some commodities waiting for rich people to enjoy. Then why do we give them lives and should they equally deserve the human rights among which a right to live is basic? These thoughts alert us to the deterioration of people’s consciences during the research to have a better life. And many laws restrict science and other research come into being to call a halt to research like this. Human being, a superior animal possesses the capability to think and judge could make their own decision while tell right from wrong. These facts tells us when a controversial research evolves into a research that will eventually demolish the humanity and other facts that constitute the decency of human, we have the awareness and power to stop it before it develop into a disaster.

Research work solves the problems we encountered while inevitably creates the new ones, and again seeks the way to resolve it. It is during this circular process, the whole society has been put forward.
