The speaker asserts that If any field of study can advance significantly, outsiders must bring their knowledge and experience to this field of study. I basically agree with it, however, there are also significant advance has been made in some field of study without knowledge and experience of outsiders. Moreover, those knowledge and experience can contribute the particular study, but not necessary in all field of study.
Admittedly, it is true that the knowledge and experience of outsiders can help the experts to make significant progress in some field of study. A good example can give some light to this assertion,
However, without those kinds of outsiders, the expert in field study can also make great advance. Here is a example,
Furthermore, Outsiders have no systematic knowledge of the certain study field; they can only provide some basic experiences. For instance, a blacksmith may not give any useful idea to a nuclear physicist for his aim to win the Nobel Prize in quantum theory, just because they have different background of knowledge and experience.
Finally, some outsiders' opinion may cause negative effect in field of study. If some kind of experience or knowledge do not obey the natural principle, or it is a not a scientific measure to study, and if the experts admit it without thinking, it will cost a lot of time and money to get the experts back from the wrong way.
All in all, without the knowledge and experience of outsiders, meaningful advance also occur in some field of study.
