11"All nations should help support the development of a global university designed to engage students in the process of solving the world's most persistent social problems."
正文
At the first glance of the issue, I was excited by the rosy prospect shown up-- to solve the most stubborn social problem[后加S]. Immediately, some dark sides of our community came into my mind, drug, teenage pregnancy, gun violence and so on. But wait a minute, is the university absolutely necessary? Will the global university surely help us to solve the social concerns that [改为so] effectively? After some in-depth consideration, I have to throw my doubt on the opinion.
Admittedly, there may be some social problems [是否要加下has] existed for a long period unsolved due to their complexity come from diverse aspects. Some problems may be caused by the bias rooted in our cultural [改为culture] that affect [affects] our behavior and mind so far beyond our sense. With cultures and view[ point 改为points] brought in [by改为from] various countries, we may have a chance to find the bias rooted in our heart or [a short cut to the key of a solution弱弱的问下,这里的意思,我不懂,你能解释下吗?]. Sometimes, our thought [could 改为might] be confined by a previous pattern we resorted to, students come from other civilizations may help to offer us a new inspiration.
However, when [comes改为coming] to execution of the solution in reality, it is quite another thing. We can not promise in every corner of the earth the effectiveness or even correctness of a solution [figure改为are figured] out by the global university since the solution could miss the consideration of the particular circumstance of the place. As the matter of population [去掉is] concerned, situation in various regions is completely different. In some countries such as China, the mass of population[这句子是说大多数的人, 你自己想表达的意思是不是中国极其多的人呢,是不是应该改一种用法把of去掉] caused a great many other chain problems, [crowd改为crowed] traffic, serious water pollution and so on. A policy called family planning is practiced by the government in order that the population can be controlled [and改为to] relief the burden of community. As in Germany, the case is completely on the contrary, the youth are unwilling to have a child, if we carry out the same policy as in China, the problem of aging population will turn even awful. Reversely, is it feasible to encourage pregnancy in China as some politicians from United States [claimed是否提到politicians后面是否好点呢]? Admittedly, the rights and freedom to [born改为give birth], they concern, is important in faith, but the chain problems following may give rise to crisis of survival.
Now come back to the suggestion from the issue above, another thing I concern is that even if the institution is built up, it may be a great challenge to manage the research efficiently in the organization. As many nations have contribution to its construction, the university would need to cope with administrative and political impediments from various countries in order to continue its research. Another thing I worried about, which may turn the case even worse, is the lobbyists on behalf on different forces As these lobbyists may affect the research for a minor part of interest group, the study in the university may go on a direction away from its original purpose. To balance and manage [加the]influence from different nations or forces, it may be a choice to set up a commission or some other organization. However, as an overstaffed and unwieldy institution [is改为are] introduced, it can give rise to bureaucracy which would cost the effectiveness of research.
To sum up, perhaps a global university collecting intelligence from diverse culture[后面加s] could help to give an inspiration to the settlement of social problems, whereas, it may fail to consider the different particular circumstances of various countries, and its efficiency can be affect[加ed] by impediments from diverse nations or forces. Taking one with another, [去掉although] I understand speaker’s purpose, yet the construction of a global university may be not a good choice. |
