"Speed limits on our state's highways should be eliminated in order to increase our state's prosperity. Because greater speed means more efficient travel, commercial deliveries will be faster, increasing business profits. Elimination of speed limits will also make driving more attractive to motorists, so that more people will use the highways, providing more highway toll revenues for the state. At the same time, safety on our highways will not be affected: daytime speed limits were eliminated last year in the western states of our country, and no significant increase in the number of accidents in these states has been reported."

The author draws an astonishing recommendation based on several steps of logical confusing inferences. I will discuss each of the flaws one by one in the following details.

To begin with, the tiny increase in the number of accidents in western states of the country cannot prove that the elimination of speed limits in Celera will still be harmless. Differences between these states should be taken into deliberation. Perhaps the climate in those western states is usually sunny in the four seasons, while it always rains in Celera or even a sudden descent of fog often comes. This obviously means a higher risk of eliminating the speed limits in Celera. Or perhaps the road conditions in western states are much better than those in Celera, which may also cause serious results if the recommendation is accepted. If such factors are true, the recommendation may bring about disorders or even turmoil to Celera despite the likely benefits, including business profits and toll revenues.

Even if the accident number will remain fundamentally, the elimination of speed limits does not necessarily lead to an increase in business profits. Admittedly the commercial deliveries will be faster, there are various factors that contribute to the business profits. It is entirely possible that the economy in Celera locates near the ocean that the primary part of its products are transported on the ocean to abroad, so that the highways does not play a vital role in the business in Celera. Moreover, it is entirely possible that the problem of Celera's economy is the lack of the elite, which leads to a tiny scale of the production in all the fields of industries, and any improvement of highways still cannot provoke the state's economy. Without consideration of such possibilities, the author's recommendation remains unconvincing.

Also, elimination of speed limits may not increase the toll revenues at the same time. For example, the majority of the drivers in Celera are people after their 40s, high probably they may fear of the potential dangers of the elimination so that they may prefer other transportation tools, such air plane or trains, in order to permit a safe life. Therefore the toll revenues of the state may drop dramatically instead of increasing. Failing to account this, still the author's recommendation is still meaningless.

In summary, the author should once again conduct a further investigation before a new study report.
