TOPIC: ISSUE51 - "Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and
interests of each student."

Determining whether education will be effective when it is designed to meet  students needs and interests of each student
could be weighed in many aspects. It is an arbitrary decision to believe that education would be effective when it meet the
individual needs and interests. Education should not only consider the wonder of students, but also the requirement of
society, the development of students themselves and other extrinsic conditions.

First, though interests are necessary in order to allow students assimilate the mass of  new knowledge, since students are
young, it is impossible for students to choose what to learn and how to learn all by themselves. Students should under the
instrucions of teachers and parents to make progress. Simply put, without instrucions from others, students would find
themselves difficult to advance a single step.  This illustrate the point that education should not only follow the
aspiration of students.

Second,  it is absolutely impossible for education to meet each student needs since the resource for education is limited and
the energy of each teacher can never be infinite. There exists a permanent inconsistency between multifarious needs of
students and restricted resource for them.  For example, there are 24 classes and 45 to 50 students in each class in my high
school, while only 5 chemistry laboratories. It is evident that 5 chemistry labs can not afford the needs when all students
want to do chemistry experiment simultaneously.  This situation is ubiquitous in universities.  All electives have restrict
in the quota of students.  Libraries can not afford all students needs and interest. On the other hand, many interests of
students are aimless and useless and they can not last long. It is unknown whether they can persist on their interests. That
would be wasteful if education always changes the content along with the interests of each student.

Finally, education should cater for the requirement from society. In this era of rapid technological change society, people
with high-tech ability especially specialists are needed, so education should pay more attention to the subject which can
bring up people with these abilities and accelerate the development of economy and technology. If education only designed to
meet the need from individual student, all the society would plunge into chaos.

Without interests and needs from student, education becomes sterile and eventually inefficient, but only taking aim at
students interests and requirements, education becomes improvident and it does harm to the development of all society. Thus,
education should be designed considering not only the individual needs and student interests, but also the demand of society,
the future lives of students, the feasibility of the scheme.
