Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People should sometimes do things that they do not enjoy doing. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.



Some one assumes that we can do everything we love to do, but in my opinion, living in the modern world does not affect on that we are now accessible to do whatever we prefer doing. The reasons are really simply, as I will discuss it in the following passages.

Primarily, social pressure on children does not allow them to play all the time. We know that children like to play as their nature personality. It is no doubt the fact that children would prefer playing for fun rather than studying at school. However, the pressures that come from our society let children to know that they must strike a balance between works and games so that they could enter into a university and get a good job after graduated in the future. Commonly, most of them are told by their parents who ask them to spend more time on books learning rather than funs. Although this is not a satisfying thing for them, but their choice seems to be limited.

Again, this might be also true when it comes to the elders. We see that struggles between working and family always trap elder people into dilemma. For instance, one must feel deeply depressed, if he/she has been informed to have an extra-work hour on holidays because this means he/she must give up some time that could be shared with his/her family members before. However, for the purpose of making a living, they can hardly reject the request that his/her company want him/her to do.

In addition, regarding some special family case, people also cannot do thing that they enjoy doing. Here is my family example, my grandfather was sent to a hospital for his uncomfortable feeling on stomach. But, just several days after he has been sent into the hospital, the doctor informed us that my grandfather have had a seriously stomach cancer and the time left for him is so limited that we can not allow to see him after a few months. Although we all think we need to tell him the truth about his real health status, but none of us has such a great courage. Facing with this kind of situation, we have no choice that we can only do what we really don’t like to do.

In summary, it is true that social responsibility, moral standard and personal emotions can prevent people from doing things they eager to do. That is to says free choice seems not be available at all time.

People who have the chance to do things they are interested in are lucky ,but in most conditions ,people have to do something they do not enjoy doing.Althouth those things are not enjoyable,in my opinion,people should bravely face them and finish them because they are useful.

To begin with,it is the life that forces one to do things he/she dislikes because one must strive to survive.In order to lead a abundant life ,money is of first essential. Without it families can not be sustained ,children could not be well-educated and happiness will keep away from us. Maybe someone has interests in art and have a fine taste of music,but how could he get a ticket for a concert if he has no money to feed himself.Take soldiers as another example,when they are sent to a battle they clearly know they are risking the danger to lose lives. However,for the lives of people they love and for the land they cherish,they have to take up guns and defend their country .

Moreover,in modern society,more and more people are inclined to do what they don't wish to do for success.As an applicant for graduate college,i need to keep scores of all my ungraduate courses high enough,this because only a high GPA am i be able to be admitted by graduate college.Despite some silly compulsory courses in syllabus ,i have to learn them well.Just think about Liu Xiang ,one of the best athletes in China who has broken the world record.Certainly he would not like running under the sun of summer,but for the gold medal he insists in practising everyday no matter how hot the weather is.

For those reasons mentioned above, for the sake of a better life or for success ,people have to even are willing to do things they don't like.
