Nearly every teacher assigns homework to their students everyday. Among this homework, maybe not all of it is necessary. Some people think it is necessary to ask students to do homework everyday while others may not think so. In my point of view, I agree with teachers’ daily assignment in most cases although there are some exceptions.

First of all, everyday homework is a good way to help students review what they have learn in one day. Just like students must have classes everyday. In classes, teachers just narrate the specialized knowledge without students doing much exercise. That is to say, students may accept what the teachers speak only at conceptional levels. What a student learns in day time should be consolidated after school in case it would be forgotten in future. So timely exercise for the newly learnt knowledge is indispensable. Take me for example. When I was a middle school student, once I was ill and the teacher permitted me not to do homework but only follow the class everyday. After three days, however, without doing homework I could seldom recall what my teacher taught us several days before. As a result, in the subsequent examination I did not pass. That experience was a good lesson to me because I realized how important everyday homework was.

Secondly, daily homework is also a good way to restrict student from spending so much time playing. As a child, we all like playing all kinds of games or watching TV, but not studying. Especially for teenagers, the consciousness of self-control is not intensive. In this case, teachers or parents should supervise what the children should do after school. Homework is a good method. It restrain students spend minimum time studying everyday.

Admittedly, not all the daily homework should be compulsory and different kinds of homework forms are needed. For example, compared with question-and-answer type of homework, it is also a good way to ask students to read some books about basic conceptions on science, or do some practical experiments to develop their ability to problem-solving. Among this homework, not all of it is necessary to be assigned everyday.

In one word, most daily homework assigned by teachers is indispensable. And some new types of homework which is not daily can also be tried in certain cases.
