Different ways the classes are given by have different effects on the students. And each and every student has his own preference for study. Some like classes filled with teachers’ lecture, while others prefer to do some of the talking themselves. Both methods have their own relative merits.
On classes where teachers lecture in class, the students could get much more comprehensive and profound knowledge. Since the knowledge the teachers give are usually unknown to students, students need to receive the basic knowledge systematic. And the teachers will also inform the students some valuable ways of learning the subject.
On classes where the students do some lecture, however, participation and discussing become more possible, which usually develop a perfect environment to develop critical thinking skills and many problems can be even solved unconsciously. To prepare for the lecture, students need ask questions positively and try to handle them by such ways as looking up in the library, hunting in the internet. The students master the knowledge by themselves rather than to receive the whole knowledge from the teachers. Also, the errors and shortcomings during the lecture can be found easily, which render the students to improve quickly. Moreover, the skills of giving lectures will be useful in the career of the students in the future.
As for me, my preference depends on what subject I am learning or the phase in which I am. To different subjects I may take different ways. For example, if I was practice piano, I’d better listen to the teachers rather than I prepare a lecture. If I was on the history class, I like to find the truth by myself and give a splendid speech to my class. Different phases also make choices different. Suppose I was just a tyro in learning the chemistry, I choose to have the classes where teachers lecture. But if I am already a senior student whose major is chemistry in the university, I must learn how to do well in the lecture.

On classes where the students do some lecture, however, participation and discussing become more possible, which usually develop a perfect environment to develop critical thinking skills and many problems can be even solved unconsciously(无意中不合适吧,应该是容易吧). To prepare for the lecture, students need (to) ask questions positively and try to handle them by such ways as looking up in the library, hunting in the internet. The students master the knowledge by themselves rather than to receive the whole knowledge from the teachers(从哪学得多不一定吧,只是强调了自学). Also, the errors and shortcomings during the lecture can be found easily(why? 再写几句), which render the students to improve quickly. Moreover, the skills of giving lectures will be useful in the career of the students in the future.
