With the development of the society, zoos have been set up all over the world nowadays. Do zoos have useful purpose? From my point of view, they are of great significance in several aspects. I will express my reasons as follows.

To begin with, zoos play an important role in protecting animals, especially the precious ones. No one will deny the necessity of protecting animals. As the environment deteriorates, certain animals come to the edge of distinction. Now the zoos appear and provide dwells and foods for them, making sure that they survive. For supporting examples we need look no further to the pandas in China. Without the zoos adoring them, it is possibly no panda can be seen today! Since the zoos help maintaining the viability of animals, zoos are definitely useful.

What is more, zoos are useful in that they provide precious opportunity to citizens to appreciate all kinds of animals. As is known to all, person in big cities have less chance to see animals, let alone the ones live in distinct areas. Simply put, in no way can citizens in Beijing see a penguin if there is no zoo in Beijing. However, with the development of zoos, people in Beijing can not only see animals in Antarctic areas such as penguin but also animals in submarine areas such as dolphins. Zoos let them have the chance to recognize numerous kinds of animals and even get to know them. In this level, zoos can help people recognize animals and thus broad mind.

Finally, zoos can also help scientists to do research on animals. Scientists can watch the animals’ behavior in zoos much easier then in wide areas, at the same time, much safer and less expensive. For example, scientists can research a certain animal's behavior through life without effort in zoos. Thus zoos are useful in helping others to do research.

All in all, zoos undoubtedly benefit humans greatly in our society. I strongly cherish the viewpoint that zoos play a crucial role nowadays.
