The author draws a conclusion that the suddenly temperature cooling in Earth in the mid-sixth century is because a volcanic eruption. To support his\her point, the author provides the evidence that only volcanic eruption and meteorite colliding with earth could produce a large dust that will block sunlight to earth and lower temperatures. Furthermore, the author strengthens his\her point by the evidence that meteorite collision usually will create a sudden bright flash of light, but there are no records about the phenomenon in Asian of that time. The argument suffers several fallacies, which renders it unacceptable.

Firstly, the author fails to prove that there are no other reasons results in significantly lowering earth temperature. The author just points out that both volcanic eruption and meteorite collision can lead temperature cooling, but some other reasons can lower earth temperature too. For example, climate deregulation, excessive snow falling and so on.

Secondly, the author fails to provide enough evidence to prove that there is no meteorite collision happens in that time. Even though we make an assumption that only volcanic eruption and meteorite collision can result temperature cooling, and base the author's assertion that meteorite collision usually create a sudden bright flash and no records about the flash in Asian, we still cannot conclude whether the volcanic eruption lowers the temperature. The author tells us that both Europe and Asian have had records about weather in that time, and only Asian have no record about the flash, but how about Europe records? However, we are still confused by the question that how does the author confirm the boom sound must come from volcanic eruption? To suppose, if a meteorite collides with the Earth in a place far from Asian, then the people in Asian will also hear the boom sound, or even the thunder can make a boom sound as well. Furthermore, the author considers that the boom sound recording by Asian means a volcanic eruption, then, why does Asian have no record about volcanic eruption? Is it really reasonable that volcanic eruption sound is more noticeable than volcanic eruption?

In sum, the argument is unconvincing as it stands. To strengthen the argument, the author has to exclude other reasons that will result temperature cooling, to better evaluate the argument, the author must provide more evidences to exclude the possibility of meteorite collision and prove the volcanic eruption is the main reason which leads temperature lowering.
