TOPIC: ISSUE214 - "Society shouldidentify those children who have special talents and abilities and begintraining them at an early age so that they can eventually excel in their areasof ability. Otherwise, these talents are likely to remain undeveloped."
WORDS: 250 TIME: 00:45:00 DATE: 2008-2-19 16:56:46
I basically agree the speaker's statementthat we should give those talent children opportunities to fully develop theirspecial talent. Properly tutor and guidance would benefit to gift children, andthus help them gain success through some training. However, the function ofsuch training should not be deliberately exaggerated when attracting potentialparticipators. After all, the fundamental factor serves to one’s success is hisintrinsic enthusiasm, and sometimes diligence as supplement.
To begin with, to what extent such specialtraining help talent children depends on what types of training program are wediscussing. Is it the one which strict teachers fill pupils with equation and rationalessitting at desk all day long or the one teachers just help children lean whatinterest him and ultimate help him develop him own way of thinking andlearning. I believe that the function of the former one is to diminish whilethe latter one is to inspire, and that it is on these functions that thechildren’s future depends. As I see it, the latter training measure would notdeliberately educate children with laws and principles of physics, but to otherown thinking of the mysterious and perplex world.
To provide training program is not only forsociety, it also meets the demand of talent children who usually have strongcuriosity and enterprise. According to a survey conducted by United NationEducational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, three out of five gifted childrenintend to exhibit their unusual talent and ability to adults. They are more eagerto be recognized and admitted by others. They feel exciting when they performbetter that other peers they gain courage and confidant. However, they feel frustratedif adults ignore their abilities. In many cases, they exhaust their parents byconstantly asking questions, and that is usually beyond the reach of normal parents.Since most gifted or talented children are more active, we should employ someexperts and professional teacher. One striking example is Wolfgang Mozart, themost famous classical composer, who played piano at the age of three. Thanks tohis father, a musician, travel Europe and in these way that Mozart pursuit. Ifhis father enforcement his to as career, we will not to listen his opera and symphony.
However, we should not over estimate the effectivenessof such training to a child. After all, it is just one of many measures whichlead children to bright future. Those who were not noticed as talent or who didnot receive any exact tutoring still gained huge success in history. Manyalternatives response for making a success in career or in academic fields, such alternatives are diligence, emotion control, charisma, endurance, and evenluck. Many of these properties can be obtained through a considerable ofexperience of live.
In sum, it is understandable for enrollspecial training at early age. However, parents should not impose their childattending such training if he dose not feel comfortable with it. The most properway, as far as I concern, is to let their enthusiasm and inherent talentdetermine what to do.
