The speaker contends that for the purpose of solving the world's most persistent social problems, every nation ought to develop a global university. In my view, in this era of rapid change and complexty society, cooperation, either between distinct organization, or between different nation, would be necessary and effective to solve a great many big problems. Nevertheless, I do not agree with the speaker that all nations should support the development of a global university for this single purpose.

Should all the nations have to, or benefit from developing a global university? Nations, from all over the world, differentiate a lot from many aspect, such as population, economic condition, region environment. I do not think the recommendation is appropriate for several reasons. Firstly, there are only few people in some nations in the world, some of which are only with thousand or even hundred of persons, so it is meaningless to suggest them to build such kind of university. Secondly, though the world is in peace in the mass, some nations are still in area battle. The urgentest problem for them is not to build a university for worldwide problems. In addition, if the university is just built for solving global problems, what kind of curriculum should be taught? What sort of job will the students do after graduated? Without careful consideration, cursory action probably bring new problems.

I strongly agree with that cooperation between different regions or nations would help a lot on solving the world's most persistent social problems. First of all, a great many nations would benefit from cooperating. It is quite likely that similar question happened in different country, and one country solve the problem better than another. So the latter can benefit a lot from cooperation by learning the better way to do with the problem. It is the same when comes to a great many other questions. Thus, more communication is in favor of solving domestic questions. On another hand, cooperation can also be propitious for settling international problems. Misunderstanding bring many problems, no matter for people or for nation. Well communication do good to settle area battle. Moreover, lots of problem, such as global warm, sea pollution, and certain diseases, is impossible to solve just by one or tow nations. In sum, cooperation is necessary for every nation.

Is developing a global university the only way, or the best way to communicate with other nations? I believe, lots of work could be done for this purpose. A global university may be unnecessary, but cooperation between institutes from different university of different countries is probably effective and efficient. The homologous department between countries can also work for that purpose. I believe that cooperation of the people or departments, from where the problems lies in, is the best and direct way for solving questions.

In summary, cooperation is necessary, and the way of cooperation is open-ended and all-inclusive. But the recommendation of development of a global university to solve the world's most persistent social problems is improper.
