The assertion presented above said that the socialization of children determines the destiny of the society today and we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society. However, I am greatly disagree with the point of view that the assertion presented, since the qualities that form a virtue and a good person who can help contributing a better society are decided from ancient people and still adopted by the general today.

Just as what I wrote above, good qualities that make up of virtue, such as honesty, good manner, modesty etc. are basic to everyone and we know how to raise children and educate them to have these important qualities well. For example, there is an old rule of education in China that teacher should teach students how to be a good person superior to all kinds of knowledge. And according to what Saint Confucius once said and one of his students developed, a good person should have five main qualities, which I paraphrase as kindness, brave, politeness, cleverness, honesty.

Furthermore, we have also known that in order to raise children into the kind of people who can help bring about a better society that we should use different methods to teach different kinds of children. According to The Republic, written by Plato, Socrates ranked people in the republic into four levels, which is gold, silver, copper and iron. And schools in the republic provide them four kinds of education which is designed for their nature and talents in certain fields. Also, Confucius once said and I paraphrase, to teach different kinds of people according to their nature and talents.

Moreover, the society today is very much developed into highly socialized one, that is to say, people nowadays have their own jobs and make their own efforts to contribute a better society. Therefore, children are considering their future jobs much earlier than people used to do. Thus, we should provide guidance and advice for them about all kinds of jobs when they start to show their interest in a certain one. That is also what we are able to do in order to raise children who can make contribution and achievements in their own position of society. For instance, when I was once attracted by Falajii, the world-famous journalist, my parents provide me a lot of information about her as well as some reports of her, especially the story of her interviewing Deng Xiaoping, the great politician of China, and they encouraged me to apply for the department of journalism for further study. Through that, I decided to take journalism as my life-long career and reveal the hidden truth to the public so that I can make my own effort to make our society better.

Admittedly, how children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. But in my viewpoint, fortunately, we have learned a lot from our ancient saints as well as from our daily experience how to raise children who can help bring about a better society. Although sometimes we are puzzled with what is important quality for people now in this day-by-day changing world, some principles as I presented above will never change. We should not limit children into a pattern made by parents or the general but give children rights of making choices about their future and which position of the society he or she wants to take as long as they remember the aim of making the society better.
