TOPIC: ISSUE51 - "Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."

Through this passage, the author raise his opinion that education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interesting of each student. The opinion seems plausible when it comes to the area of academic especially in the time of post-graduate. However, the opinion has some logical flaws when it comes to the basic education especially in the subject which amount to basic skill as mathematics and physics.
In the post-graduate education, most of the students find their interested subject and hence after careful consideration they make up their decision to go to graduate school even at the expense of giving up high salary job. Or in the other word, special subjects are designed and the only thing left to student is pick up their favorite one. In any of the two cases, the objective destination is achieved because men fit their class. While only in the circumstance of such area, the situation fits the author's assumption; in the other cases, the conclusion drew up by the author is susceptible.
From my view, common education can not be easily changed even sometimes teachers are required to pay special attention to such kinds of needs. My judgment is based on two aspects. The first one has to do with the purpose of education. Admittedly, the final object of education is to explore the potent ional ability within the student. In order to get that purpose, foundation of the education is necessary. However, the basic skill such as math is essential for students though it is hard and not much students like it. To serve the final purpose, what claimed by the author is unacceptable. The hard way of learning is an effective way of cultivating basic ability.
The second is due to the reality. In the education system, teachers are required to offer students with their best performance and test is necessary in checking the result of class. All of these have driven teachers running all day. If the effective way is truly as the authors claims, the additional work could easily crushes teachers down. So maybe it is effective to teach student as their characters in theory, the big gulf between them can be not being easily overcome. In turn, all actions against the reality may lead serious result.
Additionally, can education can be effective if the individual' needs are fulfilled? Compared to mathematics or physics, the painting class is a popular among many students. After all, their feelings can free to express in such class just by painting their picture in their mind. However, collision always exists between individual freedom and the proper function of the society. By adding classes in art, good way to express is offered to students. Along with the measure is a dilemma in philosophy. Extended freedom may be brought to reality by students and others' private lives can be affected. The result of this may be a dysfunction of the society which is just on the opposite of the original purpose. Restriction is always needed.
To the sum, I do not agree with the speaker' opinion though in small scale it may reasonable. Nothing is ideal and the most effective way of education is a equilibrium among sorts of interests by negotiation which means individual always need to find a second superior choice when the whole society find its most effective way.
