History is an important issue for us to study. From those large amounts of volumes of history recordings which was done by our ancestor, we can gain much about ourselves and our world where we live. Some of the gainings relate to our daily lives. In my opionion, the value of the study of history can not be limited to those parts which are related to our everyday life. That is to say, all of the parts of history, no matter they are relevant to our daily lives or not, should be studied by historians and normal individuals.
There is no doubt that the study of history can deeply influence our daily lives. Just as the old Chinese saying goes: Taking history as a mirror, you can make clear what you have gained and lost from it. Much of these ancient events, some of which were recorded by historical books, can enlight us and tell us how to resolve the problems we meet in our everyday life. Let me present a little example, all of us have learned the story of the great artist Da Vanci about his first lesson of painting. The great painter's teacher told him to draw eggs one time and one time again and through the simple but important basical excercises like this, Da Vanci had strenthened his fundamental skills for painting and became the greatest one in this field. The story shows us the importance of basical skills and stops us from complaining the basical excercises. Not the ancient events, our recent history can also give us much more enlightment of our everyday life. The man-made disaster of the Second World War and the Cold War tell us that peace is the most important for humankind to survive on the earth. And the history of technology development tells us that technology has become the most important issue of our lives. Much more example can be presented to show the benefits that we can gain from the study of history.
But the parts of history which are not related to our everyday life still deserves our study. Some of this kinds of history may not help us deal with our daily problems, but they can influence our understanding of the world. The space shuttle called Apollo sent human to the moon. This history may not relate to our daily lives, but it told us that we can vanquish the nature by our own hands. Other parts of history which do not relate to our everyday life can influence our future. In history, many kinds of diseases had been rampant in a certain length of time. Some of those diseases were fatal and had killed many people. This history of pandemic diseases told us that we must keep clean and exercise ourselves to improve our immunity system and told us how to deal with those fatal viruses. Maybe a pandemic disease has not happened in our life, but we must prevent it. Many other parts of history which are not relevant to our everyday life can influence our descendents and as that we are the creatures who have altruistic characteristic, we must do something beneficial to our sons and daughters.
Given the discussion above, the study of history which do not relate to our everyday life that have been discussed in my second paragraph and the study of history which is relevant to our everyday life both have value to us. We must study the two kinds of history and make it a benefit to our daily lives and our future.
