agree or disagree that: University should let students learn at least one course of culture of a country rather than their own(2007.10.17)

When it comes to the discussion that whether university should let students learn at least one course of exotic culture or to learn their own, I ,with no doubt, will uphold the latter option. There are three reasons for my chioce and i am going to explain as follows.

First of all, culture of our own nation is the most  indispensable and essential. To put it further, if other general subjects such as culture of other countries, world history are like branches and leaves of an ancient tree, the roots which keep it firmly in the soil, absorbing nurition, standing upright and overlooking everything in the forest must be native culture. One can never distinguish himself in study of other subjects unless he has not only comprehensive but also intensive understand of his own culture. The criterion of an excellent interpreter is a good example in point. Before an interpreter can manage second language and manipulate it as a native speaker, he must master his mother tongue. Because the progress of learning ,in general sense,can not be seperated from using native language.

What's more, in the way of learning our own culture, we alsso know more about other cultures. Since various of methods are applied to study,namely, analogy,classification and anthithesis, students,with no doubt, will grasp other cultures as well. Thus, there is no need to arrange another course. Some people may argue that it can not satisfy the need of students who are enthusiastic and yearning to know more about exotic culture. In this case, they can select course on culture of other country as their minors. In brief, because native culture course includes culture of other country, it should not be mandatory for students, especially students in colleges.
All in all, I am opposed to the statement that university should require students to learn at least one course of other counrty's culture rather than thier own.

All in all, I am opposed to （这里应该是主动的吧 I oppose to）the statement that university should require students to learn at least one course of other counrty's culture rather than thier own.
