32)A company is going to give some money either to support the arts or to protect the environment. Which do you think the company should choose? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Whatever the company will choose, it is a warm-hearted hand of such an endowment. However, in my perspective, I would recommend the enterprise to allocate money on protection of environment which is vital for us to survive while we have been destroying since the coming era of industrialization.

Firstly, I would argue that there is no doubt about the fact that it is our obligation to prevent environment from polluting for every denizen on earth. Extinction of species, melting of Arctic icecap and decreasing area of tropic forests warn humans that environment problem becomes more and more detrimental. Though this problem cannot be solved by the effort of one individual, yet with devotion of all civilians we can improve our living condition. Just as Adam Smith asserted in The Wealth of Nations, "If each person pursues his own interests, as in a laissez-faire economy, the welfare of all will be fostered", I would say that if each person contribute to the protection of environment, the homeworld of all will be enhanced. Thus the money supported by the company will be a great help on this urgent issue.

Furthermore, the company can gain profits by investing money on environment-friendly products which have a promising future. According a report based on a survey, most people prefer to purchase environment-friendly products even if prices of such type of products are a bit more expensive than a ordinary one. In this condition, for one thing the company can enjoy benefits from manufacturing and sale of environmentally friend products; while for the other thing, the aim of protecting environment can be achieved by designing such products as electric cars. Additionally, developing environmentally friendly technique will probably receive encouragement and support from government. Free lands, reduced taxes and financial aid can possibly be provided as reward for matching official environmental policies. Therefore, it is worthy for companies to invest money on environment.

What is more, it is true that the idea of high profits at low cost is the basic principle for an enterprise; however, hardly can we ignore the part that a company's fame plays in the expanding strategy of a company. This is a great opportunity for the company to gain fame from public and make an advertisement to earn customers preference which is a crucial factor when they choose products.

As a final analysis, if a company chooses environment protection, not only will it be an assist to better our living circumstance, but also it will increase its profits.
