Agree or disagree: Getting advice from the older friends is more valuable than getting advice from friends at your age. (2007.8.11)
Nobody can be more intimate than friends except from families and relations. When people are in a dilemma, they tend to get advices from friends. A fairy proportion of people think that getting suggestions from friends at the same age to you is more useful than obtaining advices from older friends. But I have a negative attitude toward it. My arguments for this point are as follows.
On one hand, older friends are inclined to be more experienced than friends are similar age to you. Older friends have been undergone a great deal of things. It is more likely that the situation from which you are suffering may be the one that your older friends had ever been went through. Thereby, at this time, it will be helpful for you to hear some suggestions from them. As an old saying goes well, a father is a treasure, a brother is a comfort, an older friend is both. This proverb exemplifies the value and importance of older friends. In short, it can be said that getting advices from older friends is more beneficial for us than acquiring them from friends at the same age to us.
One the other hand, older friends possess numerous characteristics and merits in themselves which we do not have. Usually speaking, they are probably to be of steadiness, cautiousness or carefulness and so forth. When asking for helps and advices from them, we can get good advices from their objective perspectives. They might be more useful than those from other person such as our parents, relatives and so on. There is a good saying that we always hear. No better relation than a prudent and faithful friend. When we are in difficulties, it is older friends who give us useful advices. Therefore, we had better take their advices to cope with problems we are confronted with. In brief, it can be seen that owing to older friends tend to have good traits and qualities, we are able to get advices from them.
In a word, taking into two factors above, we can reach the conclusion that suggestions from older friends are more useful and valuable than advices from friends at our ages.
