Agree or disagree, Newspapers can truly help people understand world events. Television news doesn’t provide enough information.  
In the rapid developing society, getting information is an important skill to keep up with the pace of time. Mass media plays a crucial role to provide the information. As one type of mass media, newspapers help people understand the world events, however, I can't agree with the statement that television news doesn't provide enough information. On the contrary, television shares the equal contribution to inform the people.
For newspaper, it plays a great role to convey the important messages that happened in the world. Almost every family has ever booked a kind of newspaper to keep themselves informed. At meanwhile, the diversity of newspaper gives people more choices to read. For example, fashion newspaper could tell the people what's the fashion trends currently, while the military newspaper get the people to know the military affair in one country, and economy newspaper helps people to analyze the economic circumstance. Furthermore, you can stand on the land of China reading Times to learn the hot points happened in the USA, which is on the other side of the world.
For television, combination of sound and image offers much information more than words. Just take a look at the sales of television every years and its popularity, we could realize that how important it is in people's daily life. Superior to newspaper, television is not only visible but also a timely media to report the event at first time. Sometimes the hot news is lively reported around 24 hours. Besides, the information it gives is not just description of the event, but the real scene, the color, type, shape could be seen. A rescue of wounded soldiers, the whole process, could be dynamic recorded and informed. What's more, different channel has its different topic to cast to various customers’ tastes.
In a word, as two main parts of mass media, newspaper and television serve the people with the newest and most important information. Everyone could find the information you want in the newspaper and television if you really want.
