  When we read the history books, we can see some evaluation about the individual, some of them are very great to the human beings while some of them take pain to the society. Who make the decision that whether the man is great? In my opinion, it is better for those who live after them than their contemporaries.
  Contemporary people are subjective because they only think about the benefits they get. The basic instinct of human being is selfish. Accordingly, they will highly evaluate a man, if he brings benefits to them. Although it may bring much more pain to other people. The government will get more praise when he benefits their nation more. Nowadays, some developed countries rob other poor countries to make their country become more rich under the flag of help. And those robber countries get high praise because they take charge of the media. But as a part of human development history, it is a indign thing and prevent the development of other counties. In the history, we can see a lot of ridiculous king. Those kings have a common ground that they deeply exploit their nation people to build some magnificent house. And they also ask the officer to write some great achievements to get high evaluation. Some people would be cheat by the contemporary writing. But the people who live after them has the capacity to make a fair judgment.
And we can not evaluate a person only according to the benefits he brings to his contemporaries because the society has its durative. Sometimes what he did is benefit for the contemporaries, but from the historic angles, he brings much more pain to the future people. Sometimes he brings benefit to the local, but he brings much more suffering to other countries. In the human development history, there are a lot of such examples. In the China history, the king Qing defeats other seven countries and builds the Qing dynasty, which is the China preexistence. It seem bad to other seven countries people, but in some sense, he is the man who build China. Can you imagine that U.S.A invade other countries and unify the earth a country. That may seem terrible to other countries. But it is very good to the human being development. Someone may decide the development of the contemporary although it maybe not good to the future.
In some area, the people who live after them maybe can not the accurate information as the people contemporary. As a result, some mystery problem can not be settled by today people. Anyway, in the most important historic things, we get the enough information to make our judgment.
In sum, the people who live behind can evaluate the historic people more accurately than the people contemporary. To us, we should read more history and dig more history information to make the judgment.
