Issue136 第2篇(can we choose?)——作文呼改站队D组
The absence of choice is a circumstance that is very, very rare.
Is it a very rare circumstance that we have no choice, as the statement contends? I agree that we confront numerous choices in most conditions, though, in the old era, it is maybe not necessarily the case.
Admittedly, one in old times do not have many choices, [时态,还有单复数问题,people in old times didn't have many chocies]due to lacking of modern science and technology. Before the invention of automobile and airplane, humans[human beings] travel simply by foot, horse-riding or shipping rather than other faster and more convenience [convenient]choices of transportation. Just imagine, if Marc Polo went by plane, how could it spend him five years to arrive the orient? [从句和主句中的主语要一致,改一下:if Marc polo travelled by plane, how could he take five years to arrive in the orient? spend……(in)doing sth ]
Still, on economical level[?,are you sure这种表达?换一个In the economic field], without today's various types of profitable investment, buying shares for example, the majority often]save their money in the bank. [这句话时虚拟语气,与现在事实相反, 胃语应当改为: the majority would just save their money in bank;不过,又感觉你这句话是再说过去,这样胃语动词应改为 saved,被你的时态搞蒙了],Yet, with burgeon[这个词是萌芽的意思,现在科技才在萌芽状态?] of technology in every aspect in our society, unlike in the past, people no longer encountered limited choices.[下面又是一个例子,呵呵,没看见你的分析,如果不看题目,完全有理由认为,你写的就是科技的进步对我们生活的影响,和选择没有联系起来,其实例子都很好,就缺乏最后分析一下来画龙点睛] In the physic domain, some scientists predict a day when cloning (creating a copy of living matter, such as a cell or organism) could be part of a process that grows entire organs for transplants. In other words, patients might choose to clone their own organ and do not have to utilize other person’s [others']organs for which may take the patient some years waiting. [改一下: In other words, patients might choose to clone their own organs instead of waiting some years to utilize others']
Nonetheless, even in a advanced environment,[这个用法让我“汗”!:)] there is still a phenomenon that one complaining [one often complain ]that he or she has no choice. Is it really so?[Is it true?] A further analysis would explain why some people keep claiming 'I have no choice'. One reason is that the gap between reality and expectation prevents humans to discover ][from discovering]potential opportunities. For instance, a graduate might be admitted by merely one firm after hundreds of interviews, and he asserts that he has no choice but join that company. To me, however, it could not be the 'I have no choice' case at all. Having no choice for this graduate is a temporary situation; plenty of [好像只能修饰不可数名词吧?] positions could be awaiting him after his hard-working two or three years later. [去掉after]Still, another choice now is to start his own bossiness. Hence, what really matters is setting a goal based on appropriate evaluation of ourselves, and therefore we can see many choices in front of us.
Another explanation for the 'I have no choice' phenomenon is that sometimes there is only one most feasible way. A good example is the Indian ocean tsunami, seismic sea wave generated by an undersea earthquake, which devastated a great many of people's home in the 2005. At that time, the only and the most feasible method for the reconstruction and the future forecasting alarm between the neighbor nations is cooperating, for only by one country’s endeavor, it is almost impossible to achieve the aim. ][这句话又看晕了,比杨鹏难句还难,:):lolwhat aim on earth?]As it stands, there are circumstances that barely one choice to be adopted from which benefits us most.
In conclusion, it is true that in some cases like old times, humans do not have a lot [of]choice. Nowadays the 'I have no choice' occasion is very rare, though maybe there are some people complain so. In fact, the one who thinks he or she has no choice [has]already made a choice.
1,One reason is that the gap between reality and expectation prevents humans from discoverin potential opportunities.
2,Another explanation for the 'I have no choice' phenomenon is that sometimes there is only one most feasible way
