The author claims that education will be effective only when it is wholly designed to suit the individual needs and interests of each student.At the first glance,this opinion seems to be somewhat convincing,but further reflection tells me that I cannot agree with it for the following reasons.

In the first place,although it is a good will that educatiuon is designed to meet individual needs and interests,i t is hardly to accomplish because of differences between individuals--different people have different needs and interests,education can hardly consider someone's special interests and if to do this,the costs is so high that the government cannot afford it.Because of special design not only expend more manpower but also spend more money,government cannot implement this plan right now--at least,governments in this time cannot carry out the plan.

In the second place,even if governments want to implement the plan,who can design the textbooks and courses??The government?Of course not,they cannot realize the individual needs of students.The teachers?it is not too.Even though they may be in contact with students frequently, can they really know what students wants and what students needs?The answer is affirmative--they donot kown.So they cannot accomplish to design it too.And what about students themselves,can they design for themselves?Some students who expressly know their needs and interests maybe design it for themselves,but some students,like pupils and children,donot really find out their needs and interests,because they are immature and their thoughts are capricious too.So since nobody can design the textbooks to adapt the individual needs and interests of each student,the plan can come ture hardly.

In the third place,not only is the education a function to impart information to each student,but also it is a responsibility to inspirit and estimate students.Students study from the uniform textbook and attend the same examinations so that they can distinguish the ability from others through points.But if education is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student,they donot have standard textbooks and cannot differentiate the competence because of everyone has strongpoint,for example,some like physic,some love music,or some are good at sports and so on.We cannot conform whether a student is excellent or not from special designed education.

Admittedly, in order to cater individual needs and to enhance interests of students, schools can offer some specifically designed programs to students,and provide more opportunities and encourage students to attend community activities.furthermore,schools can not estimate students' abilities only through points,but also emphasize on the other aspects.

In sum,from what has been discussed above,we may finally draw the conclusion that education can not be specifically designed to suit every student's individual needs and interests,we ought to try our best to improve the quality of education and offer more space to students so that they can develop their interests to one's heart's content.If we can achieve these goals, education will be truly effective.
