Argument 140
The following appeared in a report of the Committee on Faculty Promotions and Salaries at Elm City University. "During her seventeen years as a professor of botany, Professor Thomas has proved herself to be well worth her annual salary of $50,000. Her classes are among the largest at the university, demonstrating her popularity among students. Moreover, the money she has brought to the university in research grants has exceeded her salary in each of the last two years. Therefore, in consideration of Professor Thomas' demonstrated teaching and research abilities, we recommend that she receive a $10,000 raise and a promotion to Department Chairperson; without such a raise and promotion, we fear that Professor Thomas will leave Elm City University for another college.

结论:
在做出决定之前,首先要知道Thomas教授目前的实际情况,详细地了解一下他的实际态度和需求。如果决定提高他的待遇还要综合权衡本校的其他教师的情况。

     In this report, the author recommended that Professor Thomas should be promoted to Department Chairperson and her salary should be raised by 20% otherwise she might leave Elm City University. In order to persuade the Committee, the author provided a lot of reasons to prove that Professor Thomas was such a good teacher and researcher and she deserved the promotion and salaries. However, a careful examination of the reasons reveals that it is unreasonable to make such a decision according to the current information.

     First of all, all the proposals are based on the precondition that Professor Thomas will leave Elm City University. But is there any evidence to show that she will make this decision? At least it is not mentioned in this letter. So the first thing is to make sure whether this hearsay is real or not. If Professor Thomas has never considered leaving this university, there is no need to be worried.

     In addition, Even if this hearsay is true that Professor Thomas has indeed intended to leave this university, can the above actions make her to give up the idea? It is still uncertain, isn’t it? Since the actual reasons for which she made such a decision to leave the university is unknown, it is cursory to promote her and raises her salary.

     At last, the domino effect which the Committee’s decision may cause is not considered at all. If the Committee pass the two suggestions, it is very possible that other professors in this university will feel unfair. Subsequently, they probably utilize resignations to negotiate with the committee in order to raise their own salary or be promoted. What a complex situation might appear!
       
    In conclusion, the recommends in this letter should be considering more carefully before any actual action being carried out. It is necessary to talk with Profession Thomas and find out her real demand. And the salary and conditions that other professors in the university own currently should also be taken account of.

深刻的自我检讨一下,没有在规定的时间交上作业,什么客观原因也不用讲了!
对不起大家了,没有做好表率作用!
这篇写得比较短,但是感觉意思都表达清楚了,再说就有点罗嗦了!
不知道怎么加长?
另外Argument30分钟写作需要写很长吗?
