First, in the reading, scientist believe industrial chemical pollution are the fatal reason caused the decline of see otters. The professor refute the statement by explain that the pollution threat were already weakened on the beaches where see otters existed. And no one can found dead see otters washing on the beaches. If they died of pollution, their bodies can be easily found on the beach, so the most probably reason is the see utter be killed by the predator.
