Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Newspapers and magazines are the best ways to learn about a foreign


I do not agree with the point of view that it is the best way to learn about a foreign through the press. Though one can learn a lot from newspapers and magazines, it is still not enough for one to have a comprehensive understanding for a foreign country or it’s cultural. But behind the overall view of a foreign, there are more details that could not be expressed by the medians.

First of all, if you want to know something, the best way to explore is face by face. People could have a rational understanding about a country for its condition by reading some articles about it, as we say, learning others experience, but one can not have a perceptual acquire. Some foreign like China, such a big and complicated country, have so many aspects, which could not easily been known for indirect contact. Such as food, which could not easily been expressed by language, and even sometimes it could, one still could not guarantee that he or she could know how the food tastes just by reading an article. As the same reason, visual experience also could not been known just by reading newspapers and magazines. We could not deny how fantastic the technology of photographing has been developed, but when you actually saw some wander, you just could not feel the same way just by looking at a photograph. That’s why a lot of people like to travel.
Otherwise, people have different performance when facing with different situation. When a foreign people faced with the press, one could only express a limited aspect about oneself. So when you really want to know a foreign cultural, the best way might be join it, put yourself into a foreign society, and then you could know the reason of the behavior of those foreign, and their backgrounds. Only through enough observe and analyze, could one know the comprehensive facts about a foreign cultural. Compared with the way that only reading some articles, I think the difference between them is like watching a show to living a really live.

However, newspaper and magazine could give people some overall information as well. One could learn the politics, geography, fiancés and some other aspects about the foreign. Also, one could learn the foreign language by reading. But to learn a language, reading is not the whole thing. One should learn how to write and listen, then practice with native speaker as often as possible. It is the same reason why I insist that to learn about a foreign, only through newspaper and magazine is not the best way.

To sum up, there is not a simple solution to learn a foreign well, not only reading and not only traveling. One should find a way synthetically. Also, we should differ the solution of learn about the foreign by the motive. Based on different reason one want to know the foreign, there are a variety way. In that case, we could not easily decide which particular way could be definite as the best way.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? A job with more vacation time but a low salary is better than a job with a high salary but less vacation time.

I do not agree that a job with more vacation time but a low salary is better than a high salary job with less vacation time. It seems that with low salary, people could not afford a great vacation which at the most time will be very expensive and have enough time to improve their currier and live quality.

First of all, one should work hard and play hard. As I said before, with low salary, there are only limited kinds of entertainment for one to choose. If you want to travel aboard or to spend your vacation at a luxury hotel, it is almost impossible to afford it with low pavement. Also, if the job could give you a lot of vacation but not a lot of money, the time you left could really be boring. For example, if you have three month vacation time in sum per year, but your pavement could only afford your necessities, it is not wise to travel or go to some expensive entertainment place. In that case, your life will be tracked in a small place, which for me it will drive me crazy and I’ll consider myself useless. Moreover, after one’s worked hard and earn enough money, one could entertain oneself freely.

Otherwise, people should dream big dreams and work hard to reach those goals. For young people like me, if one are not willing to spend bunches of time on your carrier, it is not possible for one to be a great leader or professional. The meaning of live is to create something and make other people respect you, so that one could show the value of one’s live. If a job with too much time for play and less time for work, those purposes of live will not be able to fulfill. As the saying goes that only with 99 percent of perspiration and one percent of talent could one success.

However, in some situation such as you need a lot of time to take care of the elder and the younger family members; it will be a better option to choose the low pay job. There are some other exceptional situation like one have already earned enough money and he or she want to enjoy the live, so that he or she choose to have a low pay job in order to have more leisure time for him or her to travel and learning new things. But after all, it was after this person has enough supporting background for him or her to not working hard. As my opinion, the most of time people should take those high salary jobs with less vacation time so that they could earn more money for supporting family, and earn people’s respect.

In sum, one should find a suitable job based on the different situation. But for most of us, we should working hard and have entertainment with great quality, which leads us to choose the high pavement job with less vacation so that we could reach those goals of our lives.
