Since the first television was introduced to our daily life, people do watch TV instead of reading books day by day. Mass of people think that watching TV can learn more than reading. In terms of the previous experience, this view is just partially correct. Indeed, reading helps us learn as much as watching TV.

As generally known, primary education begins by reading. Parents buy some fairy books and pictorial books for their children as to evoke their interesting in learning simple vocabularies. Since children don’t have good sense of correct and incorrect things, if they begin to learn from television, maybe they will receive some unhealthy information which isn’t benefit for their growing healthily. As a result, for children, reading is the better way for learning.

As for the adolescent, reading is also the proper means to learn. As a student, learning from books and teaching is the prevalent way all over the world. The reason why is that in terms of pedagogy, books are the best tool for they have integrated system and clear logic that helps students obtain scientific knowledge conveniently. A traditional saying in China is that there are golden houses in the books. It indicates that books contain the whole cosmos. Besides, it can also enhance the imagination ability through script.

However, the knowledge in the books is theoretical, students can not feel that practically and exactly. Hence, people need television to continue their deeper education. Through watching TV, people can easily understand the complicated knowledge with the vivid scene on the screen. Now that, the information on TV is so exact that impact the vision of people and stimulate the brain to absorb and digest knowledge more easily and quickly. Furthermore, people are used to watching TV as an amusement and relaxing method stem from there are numerous TV programs such as series, tourism programs, variety shows, international news which expand people’s vision realistically.

For the fundamental education, we need read books; for the farther education, we need watch TV. Both reading and watching TV are the essential way to help us learn more.
