Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is more important for a teacher try to help students to gain self-confidence than to teach them specific knowledge. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer

With the improvement of knowledge, which is accumulated by multiplying and at the same time becomes more and more specialized in educational field, teachers nowadays need to possess not only academic and practical ability but also have to come to understand of psycology and philosophy. Therefore, to be a qualified teacher takes much longer time than has ever been before. While mental health as a student's self-confidence is an important prerequisite for academic achievement, I confirm that it is more important for a teacher try to teach students specific knowledge than to help students gain self-confidence as following reasons.

First of all, the main responsibility of a school is to develop a student's academic ability.So it is a preliminary task for a teacher to instruct professional knowledge to his/her students. If a teacher spend most of time in class telling his/her students how to gain their self-confidence but tutors a little knowledge in the textbook, as a consequence the students may cannot pass the final exam. With the increasingly competitive job market in current times, a qualified applicant should be well prepared for any job with a specific skill as a prerequisite, but ont only simply have a self-confidence and depend on a blind ambition entering the work force.

Another essential reason of my standpoint is that only obtain the specific knowledge well can we gain self-confidence.With progress and accumulation of our knowledge which we acquire in school,we can apply them in scientific research and cope with various difficulties more easily.If a teacher who is a professional in chemistry field let students know how simple a chemical experiment is and have students make it in confidence, but this teacher takes much less time to demonstrate the experiment briefly, as a result how his/her students complete the task without a hitch? ironically, his encourage words may be useless.

As the reasons presented above, I strongly oppse the statement that it is more improtant for a teacher try to help students gain self-confidence than to teach them specific knowledge.
