High salary with a plenty of vacation time, it might be the ideal job for almost everyone. However, it does not seem to happen in today’s fiercely competitive society. If I have to make a choice from them, I would prefer to a job with more vocation time.
First of all, I appreciate the idea that people living to enjoy the fruits of one’s job, instead of living for job itself. There will hardly be sufficient time for entertainment such as go out for a trip with family or watch favorite movies if one chooses a job with less vacation time. Perhaps he or she can earn a lot of money, but the only way to do with the money will be to save most of it in the bank, under which circumstances, the high salary has already lost its meaning.
Besides, when there is limited time for vacation, one might be overwhelmed due to the extra pressure resulting from job. Sometimes this might generate physical or even mental problems. Many artists in Hongkong and Taiwan, for instance, though paid very well, are easily depressed under intense pressure.
On the contrary, a job with more vacation time will not only enable the person to get relaxed after a certain time of working, but also provide one a great opportunity to rethink about one’s career. There are little people who can devote all their life to one job, therefore, reorienting one’s target periodically seems crucial and necessary. When we stop our hurried paces and look back at current jobs, we give a conclusion to the past and have a clearer look at the future. Maybe we will determine our mind to work even harder than before, or maybe, we will find out that a longer break is needed.
To sum up, a job with more vacation has many advantages over a job with higher salary but less vacation. Since we are not working machines, we definitely need enough time to relax and adjust ourselves, which might benefit our future careers as well.(341words)
