The speaker totally disagrees with the statement of the reading passage which is that Marco Polo may have never been to China by providing some possibilities and facts.

The speaker begins to argue that during thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, most books which introduce China use Persian language. Therefore, it is reasonable that the book written by Marco Polo does not contain places' names in Chinese. This point shows us a possibility to refute the first point of the reading passage.

Then the speaker goes on to point out the fact that it is the southern Chinese who are fond of tea and teahouses during that period while Marco Polo was living in northern part of China in his traveling time in China. As a result, it makes sense greatly and challenge the argument in the reading passage that criticize Marco Polo lied to the world for he did not visit China because his book does not discribe the tea cultural of China.

Lastly, contrary to the reading passage that Marco Polo never took the responsibility as the two officials he claimed, the speaker makes a assumption that there are every likelyhood that the records of his officer experience in China have missed or covered by a fake name.
