1.15 Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Attending a live performance (for example, a play, concert, or sporting event) is more enjoyable than watching the same event on television. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.


In the modern life, some people like attending the live performance such as a play, concert, and sporting event, while some others are keen on watching them on television. As a fan of chasing vivid experience, I obviously belong to the former group, because live performances hold unstandable charming to me. And I'm going to illustrate my reasons below.

Firstly by attending live performances people from different places gather together and enjoy the performances at the same time. This is totally different from watching TV program alone at home. People come around together, which makes contagious the atmosphere of the spot where the performances are held. For example, in a music concert, all the facilities such as the light, the stereo systems and the air conditioning are used to provide audience the most enjoyable environment to enjoy their big "dinner" of music.

Secondly attending the live performance is beneficial for mutual communication among different attenders. In the live performance people stay together, experience the live event and exchange their attitude or thought towards the performance. For instance, in the theater where a play is on, audiences can communicate with each other about their feelings after the play or during the pause, which can benefit the deeper and better understanding of the play. What's more, in a live NBA game, fans can shout crazily for their favorite stars or celebrate with anybody around themselves the victory of the team they side with.

Finally the advantage I cherish the most is that I can get closed to the hero or heroine of the live performance in zero distance. As a young man, nothing to me can be better than attending a live show of my favorite pop singer. And in a live NBA game, to take a picture with my favourite basketball star Lebron James and have his signature would make the night unerasable in my memory the whole life.

Therefore I, as a live experiencer, would prefer attending the live events for the "hot" atmosphere and refuse to watch "cold" TV program alone at home.
