Advertisements make products seem better than they are
Being bombed by millions of advertisements coming in various of forms every day, modern people seems to get so used to advertisements that they become numb when asked about whether advertisements contribute to making products more appealing than they are. As far as I am concerned, just as the speaker asserts, nowadays many advertisements have gone way to far from their original goal, and have become more a useful weapon to create illusions among customers than a tool to make the products better known.
When advertisement was first introduced to us, producers just expect to take advantage of it to make sure that more potential customers will be more familiar with their products. Such is human nature, that all of us tend to trust and choose things we know well. Farmilarity brings us a sense of security. Will most people buy the products you've never heard of when you go to the supermarket? Obviously no. Thus advertisement is important because it is through them that producers impressed their customers of their products.
However, in today's world so many sorts of technicians have been added to the advertisement that it gradually swifts its identity from a truth teller to a illusion creator. Not only advertisers deliberately fail to mention the drawbacks of the products, they are also aware of people's inborn weakness in nature and make use of it in their advertisements. The phrases from the famous people or experts showed on the blabs of a best-seller could promote the books' sales since the advertisers know people tend to follow the behaviors of famous people. Also, the advertisers make the most of people's relating ability. The cigarette ads used to begin with a sexy man or woman, so that next time when people mentioned cigarettes, the first thing comes into their mind is "its cool, and sexy." Examples like this too numerous to be named one by one.
From what have been discussed above it is safe to draw the conclusion that advertisements do make products seem better than they are.Being aware of this, every one of us should keep a sharp eye to avoid becoming a victim of advertising industrious.

Being bombed by millions of advertisements in various of forms every day, modern people seems to have been so used to advertisements that they become numb when asked about whether advertisements contribute to making products better than they are. As far as I am concerned, just as the speaker asserts, nowadays many advertisements have gone way too far from their original goal, and have become more a useful weapon to create illusions among customers than a tool to make the products better known, which, from my point of view, should be their real mission.
When advertisement was first introduced to us, producers just expect to take advantage of it to make sure that more potential customers will be more familiar with their products. Such is human nature, that all of us tend to trust and choose things we know well, because familiarity could bring us a sense of security. Will most people buy the products you've never heard of when you go to the supermarket? By no means. Thus advertisement is of vital significance since it is through them that producers impressed their customers of their products.
However, in today's world so many sorts of crafty plots have been added to the advertisement that it gradually swifts its identity from a truth teller to a illusion creator. Not only advertisers deliberately fail to mention the drawbacks of the products, they are also aware of people's inborn nature as well as weakness and make use of it in their advertisements. The phrases from the famous people, such as "this novel is amazing" or "I will recommend it to my daughter" printed on the blabs of a best-seller could promote the books' sales since the advertisers know people tend to follow the behaviors of famous people, believing if people as famous and wise as these *** read it, it must be really great. Also, the advertisers make the most of people's relating ability. The cigarette ads used to begin with the image of a sexy man or woman, so that next time when people mentioned the cigarettes, the first thing comes into their mind is "its cool and sexy." Examples like this too numerous to be listed one by one.
From what have been discussed above it is safe to draw the conclusion that advertisements do make products seem better than they are.Being aware of this, every one of us should keep a discriminative eye to avoid becoming a victim of advertising industry. |
