In this argument, the arguer introduce Salicylates, one of the same chemical family as aspirin, to us, and shows a twenty-year study to us to indicate that Salicylates has the function of curing headaches. On the base of these reports, the arguer predicts that with the new discovery of Salicylates' function to be utilized as flavor additives for foods, a continued steady decline in the number of headaches are expected. At the first glance, the conclusion seems to be reasonable, however, the arguer ingores several aspects as follows:

As we all know, people are fond of different of taste and are not easily to change their styles. So, whether the flavors of Salicylates are suitable for the citizens in Mentia have to be pondered carefully before mass use of this flavor. If it is found to be disagreeable be the habitants there, the anticipation of the arguer is not correct, thereby resulting in his false conclusion. Also, even they are suitable for the dwellers in Mentia, its prices have to be compared with other kinds of flavors in the markets to check whether its prices is lower or higher that its opponents.

Second, another point the arguer emphasizes is the similarity between Salicylates and aspirin. After careful consideration, the same chemical family is not the same thing as the same function to treat headaches. No evidences are provided by the arguer to directly justify whether its function is the same as aspirin. So we can not be swayed by the arguers' statement that Salicylates are the members of the same chemical family as aspirin.

Third, beside aspirin, the arguer cite a report to indicate the relationship between the fact that Salicylates were used as preservatives in the food and the phenomenon that the average number of headaches reports is declining.
