Should children play sports only for fun rather than in competition or contests? Some people hold these opinion in that childrenhood is a stage that human should fully enjoy funny things. As far as I am concerned, however, as there are more advantages that joining in competition sports might bring to children, children should play sports in competition or contests.
Primarily, some competiting sports which require team work provide children with a way of learning cooperation. For example, in the competition of basketball or football game, children are asked to kick goals into opposites' door at the same time to protect their own door from being goaled, thus, in the process of achieving their common goals, children learn to cooperate with each other.
Moreover, some competiting sports would offer children more psychological knowledge that they could never gain from any books. For example, when playing chess or other intelligent sports in which once certain step is improper the whole game would be lost, children are required to analysis the current situation as well as to predict the further situation. As a result, children learn to analysis things or situations before they move, this practical skill could never be gained by attending school or any training classes. Also, even when losing chess, children might learn many lessons such as " do more practice and win it again" which we call it "persistent" or "never give up", such spirits which originate from practice could hardly be learned from text book.
Besieds, it is true that childrenhood is the curious time of human beings and should fully enjoy happiness or, let us say, fun. However, as the fast development of science and technology and the strongthen of social competition, children should also fully prepare themselves for the future contests. And joining in competing sports is, obviously, a good choice.
In short, as children could gain more spirits from competiting sports, they could enjoy such sports |
