It is the core task, maybe to most parents, to raise children healthy and make them more competitive in the future study and work. This can be reflected by the constantly increasing number of books in any bookstore which provide education guidance to parents. As we look into detailed implementation, it turns out that some parents tend to let their children spend much time on studying and playing, while others ask their offspring to help with chores. And my choice would be obviously and confirmedly the former one.


Compared with pioneering days, children nowadays are assigned more knowledge than ever before to learn. And studying is, with no doubt, the main and primary responsibility for children during the first 20 years of their life. A higher degree entails our children a greater possibility of getting a better job. An apparent example is that at those days 10 years ago, a company would be satisfied if it recruits an undergraduate student as an accountant. But human resource executives today have higher criterion, and they are no more content with undergraduate diploma. A postgraduate is preferred.


Besides studying, which is of equivalent prominence is playing. Generally speaking, playing can be typically divided into two kinds--sports and video games. Joining in sports such as basketball, football and swimming would be definitely beneficial to children. These sports will offer children with the essential body exercise. They would train children's velocity, muscle strength and body balance which will enhance physical performance. More importantly, through these sports, also get improved are such principal social skills as team working, how to face defeat and pursuing a solitary goal with persistently endeavor. Take basketball for example, a team usually comprises five players or more. With jointly effort, team members aim at beating their competitor. This procession will teach children how to work with partners and accept fail since they cannot be winning all the time. Video games contribute to children's healthy development as well, for a large portion of them provide training of strategy skills. For instance, exercise of fulfilling a task with given level of resource will be received through a number of role-playing game.
