------正文------
Should every student take a variety of courses outside the student's field of study? I strongly agree with the author that students should be encourage to take courses beyond their majors because to became truly educated acquiring knowledge of various academic disciplines is the best way.

To begin with, the separation of liberal arts and sciences in present universities has become a barrier to true education for students. For students who major in liberal arts there are usually no subjects about science in their curriculum such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and so on while students majoring in science are not required to take courses of arts and humanities. However, studying the arts and humanities can help students become better mathematicians and scientists. For example, recent studies of cognitive development show that studying music at an early age can strengthen a child's later grasp of mathematics. And understanding philosophical concepts has helped scientists recognize their own presuppositions and frame their central questions more accurate. The importance of science to students of liberal arts is similar to that of liberal arts of students of science. Through the training of scientific subjects, students of art can improve their capacity of logic thinking.

Next, by exploring subjects outside their own major, students may find new academic fields where lie their real interest and potential gift. Only through taking various courses that is distinctly different from the students' own subjects can they truly discover their rear interests. Take a student who's major is computer science and has learned violin since he was in elementary school for example. Compared to other students he has one more chance to find out which field is he really good at.  It's possible that during his study of science he would find that he love music more than science and change his major.

Thirdly, since various academic disciplines are interrelated, the study of the courses outside the students’ own field may benefit the study of their own major. For example, the development of computer science is based on electronics. And many new disciplines about computer such as wireless sensor network and so on are a combination of two different subjects. To understand the related field will help students to comprehend the subjects they are learning. What's more, there are more and more important discoveries and technology innovations coming from the development of interdisciplines. In order to keep pace with the development, students have to study some related fields. Therefore it will be useful and necessary for students to study disciplines related to their studying fields.

All in all, it's very helpful for students to take a variety of academic disciplines. It's high time for students who still devote all their time in their own majors took action to take other courses as well as for teachers required students both take subject of arts and science.

Universities should require every student to take a variety of courses outside the student's field of study because acquiring knowledge of various academic disciplines is the best way to become truly educated.

Should every student take a variety of courses outside the student's [his] field of study? I strongly agree with the author that students should be encourage to take courses beyond their majors because [in order] to became truly educated, acquiring knowledge of various academic disciplines is the best way. [开头简洁。]

To begin with, the separation of liberal arts and sciences in present universities has become a barrier to true education for students. [感觉这句话之前最好再加点关于“分专业设置课程”有缺点的TS。] For students who major in liberal arts there are usually no subjects about science in their curriculum such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and so on while students majoring in science are not required to take courses of arts and humanities. [accurately] The importance of science to students of liberal arts is similar to that of liberal arts of students of science. Through the training of scientific subjects, students of art can improve their capacity of logic thinking. [是不是考虑举个更具体点的例子?]

Next, by exploring subjects outside their own major, students may find new academic fields where lie their real interests and potential gifts.

[觉得可以强调一下网络在物理层面使用的是通信技术,而不是计算机本身的技术,这样更明显一点。] To understand the related field will help students to comprehend the subjects they are learning. What's more, there are more and more important discoveries and technology innovations coming from the development of interdisciplines. [是不是考虑举个具体点的例子?] In order to keep pace with the development, students have to study some related fields. Therefore it will be useful and necessary for students to study disciplines related to their studying fields. [感觉这里所强调的“作用”没有完全体现出来。]

All in all, it's very helpful for students to take a variety of academic disciplines. It's high time for students who still devote all their time in their own majors took action to take other courses as well as for teachers required students both take subject of arts and science.
