issue33:No one can possibly achieve success in the world by conforming to conventional practices and conventional ways of thinking.

The speaker contends that conforming to conventional practices and conventional ways of thinking would lead to failure .I concede that in some aspects where conventional practices and conventional ways block the way to progress. Conforming to it will surely fail to achieve success.But it is too extreme to think that everyone conforming to convention is impossible to succeed.

Conforming to convention will do little good to our scientific world.With the technology developing rapidly ,the world today is in the form changing from time to time .Convention in some ways is in a fixed stage which constraint people to think about new approaches to solve  problems.Without breakthroughs ,our society will never be able to develop and satisfy human beings’desire.Scientific is one of the most important part  which contribute to the society’s development a lot .Think about a world always conforming to the convention even in the scientific field. Without Edison’s great new idea,we would still live in the dark when night falls or just using the small candles to light up our houses. No invention is made in a conventional way nor is our new scientific discovery.How could we improve our technology in transportation and communication system with a mind full of conventional thoughts.Concerning the banking system ,while our ancestors made use of the shells or bones to act as the media to exchange foods or clothes,We now use an electronic visa to travel around the world and consume products from every corner of the world .This change never emerges in a world conforming to convention practices.

However ,conforming to conventional ways does not necessary lead to failures in our daily life.Convention in some extend is the wisdom of our previous generation who found the best ways to tackle problem appeared in life.While conforming to these conventions ,we are using the best meanings to solve problems which happen in the same way as what our predecessor met.It will sometimes brings us convienient and save our energy as well as preventing us from falling into difficulties that is avoidable. Communication in society may cite as an exact example of the advantage of conforming to convention.Each society has its custom and rule to social communicate.While attending a party ,we should follow the the convention of the host culture.There is a saying that”Do as the Rome do ,while in Rome”.Action that breaks the rules and practices in society’s communication will cause dilemma that distress the people involved and it may even leads to hostility between them.Thus in the business world ,conform to the convention of the guest culture will benefit the company a great deal when contact with clientele from different culture.

Conforming to convention is a deed that should be judged in different areas of our society .We encourage breakthroughs and admire novel ideas in the scientific.But conforming to the customs of different countries and cultures will help us achieve success in interculture communication .
