------题目------
The true value of a civilization is reflected in its artistic creations rather than in its scientific accomplishments.
------正文------
The speaker asserts that artistic creations rather than scientific achievements reflect the true value of civilization. In my opinion, the speaker's view is not comprehensive because it is unilateral to a certain extent.

First of all, I should agree with this view insofar as artistic creations can reflect the value of culture. When thinking about this, those great artists come immediately to mind. For a specific example, Beethoven had created many works which are famous in the world. And also take a look at Leonardo Da Vinci and van Gogh, their paintings are common treasure of human beings. Few could deny that these famous works of great artists can reflect the value of a civilization. The renaissance is another example, artists in that time made many artistic creations which help to break the block of religion. In today's world, many artists are still trying to create new style or even new form of art which can represent the value of today's civilization.

However, to admit that artistic creations can reflect a culture's value doesn't mean deny that scientific accomplishments can do the same. In fact, scientists make a great effort in creating a civilization, hence the scientific accomplishments can reflect its value greatly. Consider Bruno for instance. In Bruno's era, people's minds are governed by religion. Everyone who defies it will be punished. Bruno drew a conclusion that earth is not the centre of the universe which greatly enraged religion course. Though Bruno has been executed, his find that earth is not the centre of the universe is proved eventually. In this case, nobody will deny that Bruno's accomplishment reflect the value of civilization.

Moreover, artistic creations bases upon scientific accomplishments, so the true value of a civilization are more reflected by scientific accomplishments. Common sense tells us that with the development of science, the society changed a lot. Science development is the foundation of civilization's forming. So the artistic creations are always following the scientific accomplishments. Take industrialization for example, art styles and forms in that time changed a lot to adapt with the new situation. Though these can reflect part of the value of civilization, scientific achievements such as the steamer can reflect more about the true value of the civilization in that time for the reason that steamer is the trigger of industrialization.  Nowadays, new styles of art are developed with the improvement of science, this is also a telling example.

In the final analysis, the speaker's view that artistic creation rather than scientific achievements can reflect the true value of a civilization is wrong. Though we should admit the art can reflect it, scientific accomplishments can reflect far more about it. Scientific accomplishments also help to form the civilization.

For a specific example, Beethoven had created many works which are famous in the world. 对文明的影响呢??? And also take a look at Leonardo Da Vinci and van Gogh, their paintings are common treasure of human beings. Few could deny that these famous works of great artists can reflect the value of a civilization. WHY? The renaissance is another example, artists in that time made many artistic creations which help to break the block of religion. In today's world, many artists are still trying to create new style or even new form of art which can represent the value of today's civilization. 例子多,可是感觉少分析

Though Bruno has been executed, his find that earth is not the centre of the universe is proved eventually. In this case, nobody will deny that Bruno's accomplishment reflect the value of civilization. 还是感觉例子有点问题,反映文明的,是不是应该是科技进步所带来的方便呢?例如天文学等,而不是一些不被当时所认同的东西

在例子上还需斟酌。
呵呵帮我看看吧,没人改,郁闷
