ISSUE157 : There is no such thing as purely objective observation. All observations are subjective; they are always guided by the observer’s expectations or desires.

5.总结

After the publishing of the drama Hamlet which is the Shakespear’s magnum opus, there aroused a worldwide famous recommentation: one thousand different Hamlet for 1000 person. From this public statement, we may draw that different opinions are owned by different people even when they observe the same object. However, does this suggest that there exists no purely objective observation? In my view, these sorts of subjective “observations” are actually subjective “description” of the object. We have no firm foundation to conclude that all observations are subjective.

The real definition of observation is often mistaken by our habit. For most people, they consider that what we think of an object is just the result of objective observation. Whilst such results are added by one’s own opinoin which based on his background inconciousely but delibratelly. So it can not be taken as a real objective asscessment. The different conclusions covered on us belied the same intierior attribute of the object. Take a glass of water of 30-degree for example, one who stays in the cold winter may take it as a suituable drink for warming himself, while the one who is during the torridity summer may argue that it is so hot to drink. The same glass of water gives different person diverse feeling. This is the subjective interpretation, not what we used to take as the objective observation. Such observation ones hold are their opinions under a certain circumstance, not what the real objective result of observing.

The objective result of observing depends on a series of proved truth or conception which can be accepted by everyone and can be used at anywhere, such as the temperture, time, color, the size of an object. Only based on such objective regulations can scientific reasearch go on. Studying in a laborary, a scientist in order to make his conclusion worthy comparing with others, he need to write down observations of the progress and the result in an absolutely objective way. How can he make it possible to be absolutely objective? A control is essential. The experience made now is just an improvement of the origenal one. Only compared with the control, the result can be scientific for scientist to predict new information.

The assertion harboured by many people that all observation are always guided by the observer’s expectations or desires is also a misconception. A recent survey published in IPRC(the Institution of Psychology Research Center) suggests that observation can be objective when people under the same cuicumstance. The experiment was conduct by the randomly selection of 50 persons from different areas. They were required to take acount of the same airtight room one by one. The result turned out to be that all the accounts are the same meaning. Such experiment showed us we can avoid the space for anyone to image or to add any his thought to his judgement even they have very distinct background. The so-called subjective observation are the inclination one used to put into observe things unconsciously.

Admittedly, human are the animal full of diverse affection, we are always adding our bias to describe a objection. But this can not be the foundation to assert that there is no purely objective observation. Only be objective towards the natural objection can our society and the field of science improve, also the evolution of human beings. Human beings should try our best to make objective observation.

After the publishing of the drama Hamlet which is the Shakespear’s magnum opus(厉害,记住了), there aroused(arised?好一些吧?) a worldwide famous recommentation: one thousand different Hamlet for 1000 person.(不错的引言) From this public statement, we may draw that different opinions are owned by different people even when they observe the same object.

The same glass of water gives different person diverse feeling. This is the subjective interpretation, not what we used to take as the objective observation. Such observation ones hold are their opinions under a certain circumstance, not what the real objective result of observing.

The objective result of observing depends on a series of proved truth or conception which can be accepted by everyone and can be used at anywhere, such as the temperture, time, color, the size of an object.(怎么主体句没看懂? Only based on such objective regulations can scientific reasearch go on. Studying in a laborary, a scientist in order to make his conclusion worthy comparing with others, he need to write down observations of the progress and the result in an absolutely objective way(这个例子也觉得不是很好,是以客观的观察来记录,但是每个人的观察都是一样的吗? How can he make it possible to be absolutely objective? A control is essential. The experience made now is just an improvement of the origenal one. Only compared with the control, the result can be scientific for scientist to predict new information.

The so-called subjective observation are the inclination one used to put into observe things unconsciously.

But this can not be the foundation to assert that there is no purely objective observation. Only be objective towards the natural objection can our society and the field of science improve, also the evolution of human beings. Human beings should try our best to make objective observation.

We are sad today, and we will be sad for quite a while. We are not moving on. We are embracing our mourning. We are Virginia Tech ...
