In this argument, the author suggests the town council should continue using EZ Disposal instead of switching to ABC Waste. To support the recommendation, the author claims that although EZ's fee has risen by $500 while ABC hasn't, EZ's provide better services than ABC, for it collects trash more often than ABC, it buys additional truck, and most of respondents of last year's town survey are satisfied with EZ's performance. However, by a close inspection, the argument reveals several logical fallacies which make it unconvincing.

First of all, the author fails to establish the correlation between the frequency of collecting trash and the quality of the service. It is possible that collecting trash in that area once a week is enough, collecting twice a week is a waste. Although EZ only get $500 more from the second collection, the citizens may be not willing to pay additional money as it is unnecessary.

Second, no evidence provided supports that if EZ orders additional trucks, it will be able to provide better service. For EZ, owing 20 trucks to collect trash might be enough. The additional trucks might not be used to collect trash but for other purpose. Or EZ's customers have greatly increased in recent years that the additional trucks are used to serve to other districts and the service offered by EZ to Walnut Grove town won't have any changes. Asking citizens of the Walnut Grove town to pay more for the additional service not offered to the town is unreasonable.

Third, the result of the last year survey is doubtable. Can its subjects represent the opinion of all citizens of Walnut Grove town? Have those respondents tried the service offered by ABC before? It is possible that the survey just involve a small portion of citizens with similar ages or professions, or just people who are satisfied with the performance of EZ return the questionnaires, thus it cannot represent the general attitude of the citizens of Walnut Grove town to EZ. Also, without comparison, although most of respondents were satisfied with EZ's performance, how can the author draw the conclusion that they preferred EZ to ABC? And will they still be satisfied with the performance of EZ as the price has risen?

Finally, not detailed reason offered to explain why the price of EZ has risen so suddenly. It is possible because EZ has no competitors in the past ten years. Moreover, whether the government can afford the additional money is questionable. It is possible that government is doing a big project now and cannot spend more money on trash collection.

In sum, taking into account all flaws discussed above, the reasons used to support the conclusion cannot be relied on. To strengthen it, the author should give detailed reason why EZ has risen its price and whether its can really provide better service with increased price.
