From what his mother did, we can see that even the ancient people know the importance of community in educating children.


Although parents and communities should be involved in local schools, they cannot outweigh professional educators. First of all, educators are trained to teach and to help students learn. Most of the educators have received formal education in courses like teaching methodology, educational psychology and pedagogy. Thus they know how they can teach effectively and how the students can learn best. Secondly, educators are more experienced in helping students than parents and residents in certain communities. Parents get experiences from the improvements of several children, while educators have been studying hundreds of children and have gained enough from their years of teaching experiences. It is very common for parents to consult educators on teaching their children just because educators know more about students than them. Thirdly, educators are more responsible in teaching children than community members. It is educators' jobs to teach and help students. Educators are required to perform some researches on their students to make sure they can make some progresses.

Maintaining that educators are more responsible for education than parents and communities is also because students lay more expectations on educators than on parents and communities. Students trust their teachers more than they trust their parents in learning knowledge. A national survey conducted on pupils last year showed that 98% of the students prefer to consult their teachers rather than their parents when they have problems in learning their courses. In most students' eyes they think their teachers are knowledgeable and qualified in their jobs. It can also explain why educators receive good reputation in society.

It is true that education is critical to all aspects of a country, thus government and the whole society should help to promote the education in local schools jointly. Financial support from educational offices both in local level and state level are needed to equip the school facilities. And the whole society should value knowledge and learning. Education could not be achieved solely by a group of educators or parents or communities. The more effort was devoted into education from all fields in the society, the better education quality can be obtained.
