内容挺好,Einstein的例子也很好。有个别小错误。
The author claims that if you want to understand a society’s ideas and values, you can observe the appearance and behavior of its people. Because the way people look, dress, and act reveals their attitudes and interests. However, I do not think the view is right.
First, it is no (not) wise that (to) observe/judge people’s attitudes and interests from their dress and action. Usually, people decide what they should wear about the place where they reach. (What people wear is usually decided by where they go.)( For example,信号词啊,不用亏大了)They wear T-shirts and jeans to go shopping, wear sports wears to run and play games, wear business suits to join parties and go to work.(一个主语多个谓语?) Whether a person likes his/her job or not, he/she should wear work clothes. So, it is difficulty to judge a person’s attitude from dress. The clothes do not reflect what the people were interest in, too. Most people like to wear sport wears. However, it does not mean all of them like sport very much. In fact, sport wears are comfortable to wear, and sometimes, they are cheaper than other clothes. Another example is Albert Einstein. Einstein does not care his dress. He often wears a black coat, and does not wear socks and tie. He has a long hair and does not bedeck it. Nevertheless, it can not prove that he is not a famous scientist, and does not interest in physical. (Nevertheless, no one can deny that Einstein is a world famous scientist, although his dress does not show that he was interested in physics. 仅供参考)
Second, people, who are in different generation, have different attitudes about dress. Only through observing the way of people’s dress and act,(the way people dress and act)drawing some conclusions is not reasonable. In China, the old like dress comfortable wears and do not care about fashion. The young like to match fashion, and wear individually. Some students like sexy clothes. They like to (换成prefer 或enjoy 会避免重复) make up themselves as special girls. However, it does not mean China is an open country. In fact, most Chinese are conservative and shy.
Last but not least, society has a great many ways to express its ideas and values, such as education, art, music, media, law and so on.(或直接跟etc..) (妙,观点很好。我咋就没想到呢?) Children are a country’s future and hope. When they go to school, they would learn what they should do or not, what is their duty, and so on. The books, which they use at school, are written by famous educators. And the educators have plenty of experiences about explaining the society’s values and ideas to children. Furthermore, the law is a measure about people’s action. It decides what can do or not. (Laws are such standards that define whether an action can be done or not.) It refers to society’s soul and the government’s wish. Media is an important tool of governments. Everything that wants to claim in media should get government’s permission. Media makes teleplay, music, and movie with the society’s core. And then, people can learn it from media without any difficulty. (Education, law, media 之间的过渡不太自然。Media的部分似乎有些问题,我没读太懂)
In sum, people’s action, dress and appearance can not give a right answer about society’s ideas and values. If a person wants to research the society’s soul, he/she should observe all sides about society, such as history, culture, media, laws and so on. |
