The way people look, dress, and act reveals their attitudes and interests. You can tell much about a society's ideas and values by observing the appearance and behavior of its people.

Although the way people look, dress and act shows their attitudes and society’s values in many respects, you need to delve into history and the development of moral system in a society rather than only their appearance and behavior if you want to know the society's ideas and values.

In the first place, the appearance of people is the indicator of their different attitudes and interests. Obviously, the color of the skin can help us recognize where the people are from. Besides, you can tell this difference by observing the dressing in different countries. American people love the colorful and relaxing clothing such as T-shirts and jeans because they want more freedom and pursuit the individualisms. But in China, people would prefer to the traditional and inexpensive clothing which is not as colorful as the American people. This style of the clothing shows the moderation and practicality of Chinese people. Besides, many women in Arab countries always hide their faces in the veil because their attitude to the society is preservation and furthermore we can see from it the statue of the women in the society. Admittedly, with the ever-increasingly development of globalization, I concede that people in many countries people might dress in similar way like jeans which most of the young people in the world might be fond of but it doesn’t show they have the similar attitude and values. In addition, the people’s clothing might cater for the adaptability of the climate and work environment.  

In the second place, the people's behaviors in different society also reveal their attitudes, ideas and values. In America, the people and society emphasize on right of the free speech. People can express their opinions more freely than other countries. These people also hold a strong belief on their legal system. The scandals of several American Presidents and other officers prove that everybody must be subject to it. Compared to American people, the people in China are more genteel and respectful.  Most of them respect the aged people and are glad to do everything possible for them because they believe that the age confers the wisdom. And Chinese people are more willing to help others, even the strangers, which is one important value of Chinese tradition. For example, recently, the American pilots during the Second World War go to China and search for their benefactors in China. Why? During the war, planes these pilots drive unfortunately were hit by the invaders in China and they escape their planes, falling on the ground by parachute. Thank to the Chinese people's help, they can save their lives and get back to America under the search of enemy. However, in some cases, the people tend to belie their attitude and values in order to win what they want like respect, power and money.

Nevertheless, you should delve into the important events in the society's history and its development of moral system if you want to know the ideas and values of a society comprehensively. For example, after you understand Abraham Lincoln’s effort in the civil war and Martin Luther King's activities for rights of black people, you can recognize clearly the racial discrimination in America and the society’s value on this issue. And if you want to know how the people’s attitude toward the sex discrimination, you should be familiar with some famous legislations and acts to protect women’s right and a series of related events in the history of America.

In conclusion, the appearance and behavior of the people indeed reflect their attitude and values in a society in many respects. Nevertheless, you must make an effort to delve into the history and development of moral system of the society, you can know the people ‘s attitude , values and ideas in the society better.
