The speaker claims that to improve the quality aof instruction at the college and university level, all faculty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach. In the last analysis, I am inclined to buttress the speaker's point of view to some extent. As far as I am concerned, I believe, not only do all faculty have to work in professions relevant to the realms they teach, but also they had better work in unrelating professions. In the following discussion, I will present some reasons to substantiate my point of contention.

To begin with, if our professors do not practice their knowledge in practical society, what they are teaching might be out-of-date, moreover, it is possible that the students will lack of interest on their courses and probably, they can not be well prepared for the social competition in the neer future. We need look no further than our university to see the truth of my view, in my university, the professors who take a part-time job outside the campus are more popular, in additition, the students of those kind of teachers are more capable of finding a better job. No doubt, our young generation will benefit much more from the professors who keep abreast of the societal dynamic.

In addition, another point for my inclination is due to one of the missions of our educators that they are responsible for instilling a personality which is suitable in current society, such as endurance, ability of cooperation and concept of competition. The professor cannot conceive such personalities without working outside the campus. A recent survey shows that the number of engineering students who claim that they suffer from psychological diseases is much larger than those of any other students. According to their responses, that is because they have not been taught anything such as how to deal with the stress, etc. except their professional knowledge and they believe that this predicament is due to the fact that their professors seldom dabble in other jobs outside the campus. Consequently, if our educators want to prepare the young generation with adequate personality, they have to practice in real society.

Moreover, the requirement that all faculty should work in professions relevant to the courses they teach, is not enough, in that, the current society need more comprehensive students. In order to fit that request, our professor not only need work outside campus but also they need work in diverse professions.

To sum up, it is very likely that people will never be able to arrive at the same conclusion on this highly controversial issue, however, the discussion above will certainly contribute to the thorough understanding of the view that our professors not only need to work outside the campus, but also they had better work in the profession which is not relevant to the causes they teach.
