Both parents and communities must be involved in the local schools. Education is too important to leave solely to a group of professional educators.
------正文------
As education has become a powerful social force since the twentieth century, people all over the world are growing concerned the quality of education. Nowadays, many people are of the opinion that parents and communities must involve in local schools that are(这个从句的主语好像有问题) too important to leave solely to a group of professional educators. I strongly agree with this statement for the following reasons.
Admittedly, professional educators play a paramount role in the education. After all, they have received specialized training to educate students in proper ways. To be a qualified professional educator, one may learn from well-designed textbooks, empirical experiments, and daily observations to know what students are really need. Following professional educators have established a set of curriculums(复数形式是curricula) and pedagogical methods, supposed to educate students, from the first day they enter the kindergarten to their graduation from universities and colleges, toward their best. Equipped with the specialized knowledge and training oriented modern education, professional educators are attributable to successful education of students.
While professional educators stand tall in educational process, it is common to view them as replacing parents and communities to proper education for students. However, I will follow my reasoning that either parents or communities have served an indispensable role to education in local schools.
When it comes to the financial support to education, many local schools have relied heavily on the money from local patrons and taxpayers. Although in countries such as German, Japan, and France, people are free of such concerns, in countries like the United States and China, it would be hard for many public schools to survive without monetary support from parents and communities. This is nowhere more obvious in rural districts where only a small number of students attending the public education. When it is unrealistic for schools to depend on the tuition from students to cover all the expense of building classrooms and equipping teachers with needed computers, and of course, their salaries, we look to parents and communities for financial support to local schools. In short, to ensure local schools function well, parents and communities have to back financially if needed.(这个理由好像不是很直接!)
A further solid argument for the parents and communities' involvement in local schools is that they are of help to enhance education, especially on morality, for students. After all, students are being educated ceaselessly, yet they only spend part of their time at school. When they step out the school gates, it is the parents and communities that should bear the responsibility of after-school education. What is more, a large proportion of attention and efforts coming from these non-professional educators should be devoted to moral education. What is undeniable is that much emphasis in formal education is placed on acquiring of knowledge and skills, but far less on moral education. In light of this, parents and communities, often more familiar with students, should assume the job left by our schools, that is, moral education.
(parents和community的作用为什么不分开说?那样更清晰些!)
To sum up, professional educators are of a part and parcel role in the modern education, but this is not to say that parents and communities are spared the responsibility for education. Instead, they are crucial for the financial support to local schools, as well as for moral education for students. |
