In this era of rapid changing dominating the society, history seems not as valuable as times before. Some people claim that knowing about the past is not able to help today's decision. In my opinion, however, history is far from out of use even in this fast development society.

Admittedly, history does not have capability to instruct people's recent action directly, some theory is out of date. The view which was prevailing among ancient monarch on how to build a strong country is lied emphases on the population and agriculture. If one country has large population as well as miles of agricultural land, such as China and Egypt, it would definitely occupy an leading position in the world. However, this theory is no longer useful with respect of today's society. Some small countries like England, who only has population of hundred millions, and Japan, who only owns little arable land, are play leading role in contemporary world. The importance of advanced technology is outweigh over the population and agricultural. To this extent, history is not so useful to help people deal with modern evens.

However, history is like a mirror to reflect the past so that many conclusions and experiences drawn from history can guide present people to distinguish right from wrong. The World War Two--the biggest tragedy in human's history, becomes a profound lesson to teach us the destructiveness of war, teach us how to make decision when facing conflicts among several countries in a more peaceful way, teach us no matter race and nationality, life is the most valuable thing that should be cherished by everyone, teach us only in a peaceful and cooperated atmosphere can each nation enhance great progress. Thanks to this history of the war, our world maintains years of peace and rapid develop can be taken. History provides us several basic standards to conformity so as to prevent us making wrong decision, it teaches us far more from just the only one thing.


Then trend of historical proceed can also help people to predict the situation of future. From thousands years of worlds' civilization, the outdate things are usually replaced by the new, innovative ideals. This regulation will also be true in nowadays and would always be true in the future. One seems quite suitable just to short-term use would eventually die out in the long round. It is the history that teaches us to make decisions not only for the immediate expediency but make complete and long-term consideration.

Unfortunately, history is gradually forgotten by people. To pursue job of high income and more material to enjoy, people just emphasize the most practical though of money and status, neglecting the great spiritual impact brought by history. Some of them even regard history totally valueless. Therefore, one of the most urgent business demand us to do is retrospect our attitude towards history, revaluate it and make full use of it.

Never ignore the significant effect of history, let us study it, learn from it, cherish it and at last make it best serve for the human beings
